Just got back from being a part of the audience in some book presentation. The writer did very well, she is cautious and in command of speaking and (as people should do in presentations) did not have a written speech in front of her to read.
Overall it was a nice 1,5 hours. The three other speakers were - in my view - not as optimal, but they were jovial and helpful. What i did feel was not that good was a reading of some of the 10 stories, and personal comments on them by the presenters. I always fall asleep during those parts.
I also gained a bit by noting (again) just how most other people in presentations come off more nervous than i do in my own talks (the book presentation, or the library ones). They deal with it in other manner, eg make a lot of jokes, or (which i think is a very bad move) self-reflect negatively on whether they should have been presenting there.

Do you go to book presentations/events? And what do you think of them?
What is your view of speakers in such a setting?
