I know this is not a big issue, but I'm just interested in why I'm not allowed to do this. In a recent game I had only one opportunity to improve my palace. I'm the light green persians.

Does somebody know the things involving in the "the people wants to improve your palace"?

Until someone presents good reasons for my poor palace, I consider this a bug (luckily not a sigificant one) ;)

Me and my poor palace:

I have no idea why you have not been allowed to improve your palace, but don't worry about it, since it does not affect gameplay at all....

I'm no expert on the subject, but I know the first time a barbarian attacks a city of yours (assuming you win) you will get a palace upgrade.
Also if you're the first to enter the middle ages you get a palace upgrade (not sure about later eras, but probably).
And I've noticed that whenever I get my lux level (happiness) up to multiple WLTKD's, I seem to get (often on consecutive turns) lots of palace upgrades.
Try pumping your lux level up for a few turns in that game and see if you get some upgrades, oh lord of the cave.;)

Well, I have WLTKD all over my main continent, now I control all the wonders in the world (5 or 6 of them by conquest), I have access to all luxuries, and still no improvement on my miserable cave...

And the funny thing is, constructing this cave to a new location costs 1000 shields.

Some impressive cave that is :D

 That beats my French Middle-Age Castle by a long shot.

Wow, you've really crammed that continent with cities. I've never seen such a dense civ map before.

I've had games like this and then all of a sudden I'd be able to build 5+ improvements all at once when the screen came up.

I really wish there was a higher level of improvement for those skimpy trees we get to build but it isnt important.

the game forgets to prompt you from time to time.

buzt the screenie given shows he cannot improve atm - weird!

WLTKD

Forgive me for my ignorance... but what is WLTKD??

We love the King Day - the festivities that bring less corruption. Needs no starving, no :( citizens, and the number of :D must at least be equal to the number of :) and specialists. Also needs size 6 minimum.

Once again, Killer, you've been a lot of help. Thank you! :D

I had a map almost completly white so I cud teh most out my capital, also not having a culture can affect your territory meaning u fit towns in whether there is much psace or not

It happens when you leave a game and reload it. I've played til the Modern Era, and when I quit the game and come back and start it later, it totally forgets my palace. If I look at it, it's back to square one even if it had been completely built during my earlier turns. However, after you view it, it will start asking if you want to improve it. It's just a bug, imo.

Hey aaglo,
I had the same thing once, dominating the world out of a cave in the middle of nowhere! I found it even quite funny in the end.

But in another game I had multiple expansions for a few turns. I guess it indeed is sometimes so, sometimes differently!

cheers!
