Inca DLC for Humankind coming

It's not an official announcement though. And a roadmap for the coming months was published today (for example on Steam), and it doesn't seem likely that a DLC is coming soon.

This is highly misleading.

The guy who made the video is referring to a year old reddit post, in which the Inca are confirmed by the studiohead, as "being in the game, but not at release".

I find these vids so annoying, as they suggest news and show fake fan made art.

Anyway, for the full quote:

Sukritact, sorry I realize that comment is misleading, I would not want to disapoint you. The inca will be in the game, but not at release. it was a tough call. I am so sorry for that.

Not to let any cats out of any bags, but the VIP test group is still operating for Humankind, still discussing new changes/fixes/balances to the game, and the Developers have a sketchy 'road map' of proposed additions to the game. The Inca have been a known 'addition' for over a year, but they aren't alone.

One of the best things about the two new games that have been released: Old World and Humankind, is that both are from development teams/groups that are dedicated to communicating with the game communities and continuing to work to make the released games better and address problems that (inevitably) accompany a new release. The contrast with Civ is deafening.

For someone who entered 4X with Civ 6 after GS, this has been beyond exciting to see in real time.

Whatever Firaxis did to get Beyond the Sword worked.

I like the way Amplitude are actively seeking feedback but I've stopped reading people's reviews and "long list of suggestions" threads. It seems like a side effect of the collaborative approach is that a lot of people are projecting their own ideas about what the game "should be" rather than accepting it as it is and suggesting ways it can be a better version of what it already is rather than a totally different game. I hope they have a good system for filtering feedback.

Also the complaints about the systems being opaque makes me feel very old, "in my day" we got a buggy impenetrable game on disk, with no patches, forums, or wiki, and just had to figure it out. It's nice to have some mystery like how to trigger civics.

Yeah, sadly it's a very common trend.

Yep , gaming without internet was quite the challenge but part of the charm as well. Although the civics triggering game is a bit ...much, maybe I'm spoiled but at this point, it would take more investment than I already put in (and I do put in quite the investment considering my sleep time got reduced the past two weeks) and at this moment some civics triggers do feel random (while I know it isn't ). And they are quite a lot of 'top quadrant' civics I've never seen and probably won't ever. This makes me a little bit sad ctoi

Oh absolutely! Really makes civics feel like an inconsequential part of the game. I’d argue it very well might be but others love spending their influence on them, so maybe not. If they all had the significance of the food or use-gold-as-influence, I’d be more interested. But most do so little, especially the commons quarters ones. Pretending there was some deep reflection on whether to include slavery in the game “because it’s historical” falls flat when it doesn’t do anything one way or another.

Once I realized you can get events that prompt you to choose a civic for free, I stopped prioritizing them for Inf spending.

Only when I have an Inf surplus and no foreseeable expenditures will I pick up any civics (unless they have a particularly powerful bonus).

Slavery is situational, if you're doing a lot of conquest the extra pop from ransacking might be worthwhile, but most games it's not worth the inf cost.

There's a few early ones that seem sensible (the ones that add or save influence) but then you're generally spending all available influence on claiming and attaching outposts, and other yields aren't bottlenecks as much as influence, so spending influence to get FIMS doesn't make sense.

After expansion has slowed to the point where there is surplus influence then as you say you may as well spend it on civics.
