Inca Terrace Farm Confusion

So help me out if you can. Playing Inca and I am going to build a Terrace Farm on a tile that is "Hill, Jungle" it currently has 2 food 1 culture due to religion and it is next to 3 mountain hexes. The mouse over claims that building a Terrace Farm will add 2 hammers and 2 food and -1 culture. However, after building the Terrace Farm there is only 2 hammers and now there is NO FOOD whatsoever. So I'm not understanding....

Are you sure you actually finished building the terrace farm? Don't rely on the graphical image; do a mouse hover on the tile to confirm the TF was completed.

crap, you know you might be right now that I think about it. The worker activated (as if he was done) but a barb had just shown up a few hexes away. Ok so I'm the moron....SMH
