Hi all,
Basically, I just want to play in the World War II time, or at least no future tech. So it has more immersion (for me, at least).

I've got a basic understanding of XML, but after that, I don't know what to do with the XML.

So if someone could give me a hand or point me in the right direction of a mod that does this would be excellent :D

Also, I'm not sure if it's possible, and completely unrelated - is it possible to restrict wonders to certain civilizations? Example, if I'm playing as the UK, I'd like only for the UL to be able to build Big Ben and such.

Thanks in advance!

There are many, many threads in these forums on capping the tech tree at some point. There are quite a few mods that do the same sorts of things. Search around and you'll find these; just be aware that it's a lot of work to ensure these sorts of changes don't break something else, and most of the folks who've made mods like these never took those sorts of issues into account.

For instance, the AI players will pick a "Grand Strategy" based on one of the available victory types, and this choice will adjust a lot of the AI's behaviors. But what happens if an AI picks a diplomatic victory path, while you've capped the tech tree such that the U.N. is never buildable? Sure, you could get around this by turning off every victory other than Domination, but that'll just result in every AI playing like a warmonger since none of them would pick a peaceful strategy.

Yes, in the same way that you can add unique buildings for each civ, you could make certain wonders be exclusive to certain civs. However, this will have quite a few issues; the game's UI, for instance, expects every civ to have two unique buildings and/or units, and the game would now think of that Wonder as one of them for that civ. So you'd likely also need to adjust various UI elements to not freak out. Obviously, this'll have a big effect on AI behavior, since it'll now have a smaller pool of things it can build, and the AI won't realize that it doesn't have to race to get certain wonders since it's the only civ that CAN build some of them. But the mechanics of this are at least doable in XML.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've searched a bit, and it looks like Hulfgar's is the mod I am looking for.
It's got modern units, but no nukes/etc, and it doesn't require scenario to play.

How would I go about getting it to work with YNAEMP? Or perhaps if there's another map like it, that doesn't require you to click the enable scenario, with still TSL.
