The rest of the turnset before this had no history: changed to Theo + Vassalage, 0% for upgrades, chopped the border forests, whipped some units.... all I could do in the small ammount of turns I played. I even tried the gold trick , but pacal didn't falled on that one ;) Sankore was a pipe dream as well....

How about trying ICS with min. city distance as 1? I don't know if it's possible to make easily, but Rhye's has it so it is possible. One can only assume it would be MM hell.
 
In the unmodded game there is a minimal distance and it's the one we're using.

@team: Really sounds bad. Also I'm sorry I can't really join (no civving until I get a new pc... :().

I have no idea how modable this would be, but I'm not a big fan of the idea of changing the game mechanism in our favor.:(



I just got another ICS idea, with a bit different approach;
We play the maze map with maze width of 4. For those who aren't familiar with that map, here's an example of how it looks like:

This way we can make a really nice 3x3 gird along the land strips and have costal cities only. Than we just need to build TGLH. With foreign trade routes this will give us at least 4 additional :commerce:/city. At 50% science slider this gives us 2:science:&2:gold:, the same as a temple with UoS and SM. If the city works a costal tile or two, this will make the city pay for its maintance cost automatically. This way we can start spamming the cities much earlier as we don't need to wait for all the wonders and shrines. The only problem I can see here is that building 2 early wonders might be impossible, but maybe we can somehow live without the oracle?

Definitely another aproach than the religious one. I personally wouldn't try the oracle and TGLH (on deity at least :p), run lots of priests and hope to bulb some religious tech and beeline paper or something.
 
Just read through the thread - too bad about Pacal DoWing you peeps, you were doing fine. I would like to hear, if you plan on starting an ICS04 with the proposed mazing, what diff would it be ? 'Cos I think it sounds nice, but I am completely lost at Deity. I think R_Rolo1 has a nice overview of my skills, as we are playing a CSG together. I would rate it Monarch, possibly Emp, but nowhere near Deity.

What I am trying to say is that I'd like to try an SG and this sounds like a fun one for a cityspammer :)
 
OK Got it will play report Friday so we will know our fate for definite by then - but not terribly optimistic!!

BTW are you interested in being part of the team? Someone that actually wins in Deity ( unlike me ;) ) would be a good asset .... :p
 
Maze and back down to emp? We must make a stragic withdrawl and make a new plan ASAP (A FFH2 ICS or rhyse and fall maybe good. Or some other mod.)

another question is what leader should we play. asoka is quite good for the variant, but I think a financial leader would be very nice as we might be working quite some costal tiles to pay our bills.
 
I think that a currency sling whould be best, but for currency sling we get col sling anyway, Markets are better then Courts for gold and markets give 1-4 gold and Courts 1-2 gold.

leader? JC Maybe. I think he will get more from the ics then Asoka cept for SPI. And the forums give more profets (unless we want the beeling nat so hard that we draft prats?)
 
Are we giving up? If so I will play it out on my PC to get that big fat zero in my hall of fame.

For the next game, I am undecided about leader and difficulty level.
I do not think we should srop down below immortal, however.

Also, for the maze map, have you actually considered the geometry of it? It doesn't actually fit with ICS having every city on the coast as you would like.

I do not think that would work out as this theme goes against my standard doctrine. I would probably stop at city #6, and gift any extras to the AI.

I tested out the maze map, and you can ICS very good i you settle on the inner corner tile.

If We Want to be very cheesey, Darius of HRE. Fast courts,lights and FIN make ICSing easy, Kick@$$ UU, And UB is Cheap and when built, cities have almost no Mantanice.
