This is a poll just to get the general census of whether the DGers are in favor or against public polls. Vote for one option, for them, against them, abstain. I've made this a private poll (let's you know where I stand too).

Quite obviously, against public polls.

Citizens should be able to express themselves through voting without fear of pressure or ridicule. Public polls eliminate that possibility.

I've spoken at length on this, and will continue my protest against public polls in my own way. If you too are against public polls, consider my form of peaceful protest.

I'm for Public polls.

* Public polls make it possible for citizens to change their votes as it is shown what they've voted.
* Public polls make it possible for anyone to spot illegally cast votes.
* Public polls mimic Democracy better. All citizens are "congressmen / congresswomen" and in RL they vote publicly.
* Public polls make it easier for non-native english speakers to choose the correct option; if you know you agree with a certain citizen you can check (if you so not completely understand the phrasing of the question) what that citizen voted on, allowing you to vote for what you want to vote for instead of just guessing.
* Public votes allow to consider the options better. If you see a highly-skilled player vote option A and a non-highly-skilled player to vote option B and you were going to vote option B, you can rethink why option A might be the better choice.
* Public polls allow citizens to distinguish between active citizens and less active citizens, which opens up the possibility to better choose active deputies, discussion partners, nominations etc.

Need I go on ?

Public polls, except for sensitive polls like elections, cc, etc.
If you can't declare publicly which city location to settle first, which tech to research next and so on, we are simply not able to run a respectable government. Do not forget that this is a significantly modified form of democracy in that we are not assembled in one building, seeing each other every day, but log on to a website almost anonymously. I say almost as all I know about most people is their user id and a general region the person is from.
The other day I voted in a poll where my vote was in the minority in the extreme, but I wanted to make a point even if the idea was ultimately rejected. If the poll had been private, my vote would have been a waste, but in a public poll, it still bears weight.

As you know, I am for public polls. I agree whole-heartedly with Rik Meleet and Gregski in their reasoning. It all makes sense. Be proud of how you vote. Don't hide in the shadows while you click the option that will get you in the least amount of trouble. What is there to be afraid of, anyway? Stand tall. Declare your point of view. Vote publically and be recorded.

This should have been a public poll.

I say public, even for elections.

I just wouldn't be for public votes concerning complaints against other citizens.

I stop supporting public polls when it is about voting on people. That includes elections, courtcases, penalties and "refusal polls".
The reason is that the person you are voting against (it can be viewed that way) can take this vote wrong and become an enemy. That is not in the spirit of the game.

i agree with cyc, im kinda on the fence when it goes to public on polls dealing with people, but everything else i am 100% for public polls

I am for public polls on everything but the selection and deselection of people. I know that elections and courts may be messy with strong personalities on different sides.
However, without publicly polling where people stand on real issues, we get a hollow game void of tangible citizens. Again a ban on political parties also lets us investigate this
ban by seeing if some of the same people vote in exactly the same patterns all the time.
I more respect a strong person having a well presented alternative to mine, than just someone pretending to vote with me, but may or may have not voted aainst me.
I do not want a DG with fake taps on the back for faulty given votes.

I abstain because this is not a public poll.

Heheheh. I was going to do that also.

 The reverse of Ravensfire. I'm neither for nor against public polls. Either way I would vote, which is why I don't get why people abstain just because it is public, or in this case, not. Polls are there for the citizens to input what they want done and how they want it done, not just to veto actions because it is a certain type of poll.

I voted that I am for a public poll, so long as its not in regards to Elections and Judical processes (CCs, etc)

The only presure that Ravensfire is put on by himself. If Ravensfire were to now vote in any public polls then we will pay great attention to them, but if he had not made a such a comotion about public polls, then we would not care too much. BTW is there a way to see who everyone else has voted once you have voted.

In private polls like this one, no. But in the Public Polls, all you have to do is click on one of the numbered vote totals on the right hand side, just left of the percentages.
