Have you found inner peace? A level of contentment with who you are, what you've done, where you're going, etc.
It's odd because I think I found it last summer. But the drawback is, regardless of what happens, I'll still be content. Motivations and aspirations I used to have are dwindling. It feels like I should care more about it than I do, but I'm mostly content with my level of contentment.
No matter how any specific event can make me sad, it's short lived. And it's an odd mixture of heart felt sadness, but some distance with an overall perspective. In general, I'm very happy, but it's as though I'm happy because I believe I'm happy. And it's cyclical. It's not as though I can define what happy means.
I think this is what true freedom is. This inner peace.
I'm an agnostic/atheist, but most of this applies. Obviously, I lack literary talent.

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
