Two different counter examples:
If Cuba suddenly switched from State Property to Free Market, International Telephone & Telegraph wouldn't suddenly start operating there again. They have been purged from all Cuban cities. The same is true for Dole Fruit.
In 1991, when Soviet Russia switched from SP to FM, Coca-Cola started working as an actual foreign corporation immediately... even though Coke's Fanta brand had been sold in Russia since 1979, and state-owned plants began bottling Coca-Cola in 1987. Coca-Cola was a non-function but existant corp. under SP for the Soviet Union which immediately began to function when it was switched to FM (indeed, in January of 1992 it went nationwide with franchise agreements!).
