Inquisitors

I agree that one should have the option to take away one religion within his empire (altough it's a bad move, generally). Religion is a great feature, but the way its put in the game is too brand (I'm ok with the religions being all equal, though).
But it would be better to not have the possibility to take away religion in other civilizations, as that would creat too much micro management (imagine the ais sending inquisitors to your territory).

well I remeber some1 say, that implementing religion in CIv was a very nice feature, but they only did it like they did cause they didn' want to allienate ppl or offend, so they just picked the 7 biggest religions in the world and putted in the game, and never "touching" the "religious side of the religions"... trying to make them neutral as best as possible...

religious purge without population loss could not easily be comparable to genocide.

Religious purge = ethnic cleansing = genocide. Sure, religious purge doesn't equal genocide necessarily, but it is only one small misconstrued link to get to genocide. Also, there is the point that the media wouldn't look at the intricacies of the option, rather just look at its name or purpose, to remove religions. They'd just say, "You can get rid of Judaism! It must be genocide!" Which, admittedly, isn't that much of a beat up.

i should have the option. how come devs decide for me what's appropriate and what is not?

They decide what is appropriate for sales or not. You can always get a mod for this, that path is open. But as a private company whose interest is inevitably in sales and profit, they have every right to not include something in the game that could be damaging to those two things. And they cannot modify the game to suit each individual player, so with such a contentious issue, it's safer to go with a broad rule of sticking to the safe side of things, instead of pandering to some people's prejudices.

Yeah, this is true. That is why there is absolutely no difference between the religions in terms of the game. And is also why there is next to no chance of differentiation between them in future Civ games.
