instalation probem/questions

I use C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods. My OS is Win 7 Pro 64

If I use the My Documents I have loading problems. And I am Admin on Everything on my computer. And I never use the C:\Games\ path either.

So we have 3 paths?

The "Mods" folder that is located where the beyond the sword executable is (installation directory), should work on all systems.
Complications may arise for some systems with the directory that is located in the "user/my_documents/my_games/Beyond_the_sword/mods" folder.
 
ok, well the controls are still gone or no where to be seen still, now what do I do to get it to work? appreciate the attempted help so far

Are you trying to do a Custom game set up for Caveman2Cosmos? Or are you trying a Play Now?

Can you even get that far into loading the Mod?

Do you have another version of Caveman2Cosmos in the BtS\Mods folder? If No, do you have a Caveman2Cosmos Folder inside another Caveman2Cosmos Folder. If you installed the Mod and called it C2C you Will have problems.

Have you named the Mod folder anything besides Caveman2Cosmos?

Maybe you should give a step by step process of how you installed the mod into the BtS game path for Civ IV. You did install Civ IV 1st right, before you installed BtS? And that BtS is Patched and verified to version 3.19?

Details are very important here. Vague questions lead to guesses.

Checking the UserSettings folder is probably the most important. If it does not have the 30+ files in it, then the Play Now option should populate it with all those files. I don't know why Custom Game would not but maybe it doesn't.
 
ok went into use settings and the file is completely empty with no .ini files
ive played the custom game and the play now and there was no player controls
I need it so do I need to down load it again? its in my c(84)/firaxis/civ4/beyond the sword/mods.I did not rename the file, its name is untouched. its "Caveman2Cosmos" all try just once again in play now.
 
Does the caveman2cosmos folder have another a folder called caveman2cosmos as its only occupent? If so you need to peel the top layer so there is only 1 folder with that name
 
nope, only one file.

@tofer excuseme but do you think you can give justa direct download for the.ini files instaid of 7.zip because I downloaded it that way and cant open the files witchalso gets me to a screen on my pc that says I need to open it with a app or something like that and I am not going to pay money for a 7zip file when I can just download it for free, and I also downloadeda free 7zipprogram but it doesn't work.
 
Download WinRAR, Civ4. That can open 7zip files.

Did you install the 7zip software after downloading it?

I cant get your pic to show up and yes I downloaed the 7zip first and installed it. can you paste a big picture into the post, thanks

the directions don't work because when I downloaded the file again instead if showing a zipp.7 it shows a paper icon and and when I click on other stuff it just saying something about choosing app to open it with again, I already downloaded the 7zip with the links thatwere provided, still no way to follow those directions. I think the problem is my labtop, screw the app thing, ugh ,im giving this one last chance, please help, if I cant get it to open I give up.

I appreciate the help so far
