Install instructions for new/returning players?

Hey all, I just wanted to get a little clarification on the install process for brand new/returning players. The installer for the latest non-beta version (2.63) indicates that a previous version of MNAI must be installed for it to work. Is this correct? I've seen elsewhere on the forum that the 2.63 patch over a fresh FFH install should be sufficient. If a previous version is required, what version would be appropriate?

Any version of MNAI can be installed on top of FFH. No previous version of MNAI required.
