installation-setup doesn't recognize 'Beyond the Sword' folder?

I have BtS installed, when I run the installer for Realism Invictus, it tells me it doesn't see BtS folder. It allows me to browse, to find the BtS folder to select the proper directory, but it won't allow me to actually select any folder, even the BtS folder. (the 'OK' button is continually greyed out, no matter what folder I select), so I can't install the mod anywhere. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I using Windows 10, have BtS installed in My Documents/My Games/beyond the sword.

You do not have BtS installed in My Documents/My Games/beyond the sword; this is the path the game creates to store saves, logs and other stuff. The game itself is elsewhere. You have to point the installer to the actual folder where Civ4BeyondSword.exe is located. If you don't know where it is, you can either check the game's shortcut for the path, or just run a Windows search for Civ4BeyondSword.exe

Does this installation method work any longer? RI isn't finding my BtS install, but I was playing it just minutes ago with a different mod. My Civ4 is a Steam version.

I also have a Steam version on my laptop which the RI can't find. I'm pretty sure the instructions on how to manually direct it to the right place are somewhere in the main thread because I hazily remember this coming up before, but I've so far been to lazy to find them and apply them. I've instead been content on playing my recently acquired Civ V on it whenever I'm travelling, and playing Realism whenever I'm home.

The game should be located in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword if everything was using the default values.

My Steam version of BtS is located in the above directory, but the Realism file in mods says it cannot find Civ4BeyondSword.exe - a Windows search cannot find it either, but I have downloaded it from Steam

That does not seem to be right - does the actual game launch? If it does, what is actually being launched if not Civ4BeyondSword.exe?

Just manually navigate to wherever the actual Beyond the Sword exe is and you are fine

Sorry to resurect an old thread but I am now running into this issue after having to reinstall all program due to a windows crash. I have followed the path C:/Programs X 86/ Steam/ steamapps/Commom/Civ 4 BTS/ bts/ Mods. I have tried to make a folder but after making it, the OK button is greyed out, and I can't go forward. My Civ4 bts exe. appears to be in the correct location in the 2nd BTS folder. I have tried two separate downloaded RI 3.61 install packages, one from a previously saved download 2/17/2024 and a current download 4/6/2024. I'm not very good at taking snap shots and attaching, but will try if needed.

Followup Note, I just downloaded and installed the "A New Dawn" Civ 4 Mod" to the Steamapps/common etc (address as above) and it seems to be working OK.

The setup file doesn't give an option to browse for the correct folder. Is there just a zip file somewhere that I can extract?

Not of the release version; you can theoretically check out the SVN version (described in the first post here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/realism-invictus.411799/), but it's a lot of hassle, so I wouldn't bother.
