NOTE: This may changed based on the results of this poll.
Should "No, keep going" be the decision
I will start the game session at 6:30 pm, CST. Due to a borrowed laptop for unrelated tested, I will be able to switch between Civ 4 and IRC. Discussion will be kept on target - use #demogame for non-game session chatter

Should "Yes, restart" be chosen
Game session will be CANCELLED to determine next course of action.

Please use the "title" part of your instruction post to state your office title. My intention is to play up to 10 turns.

Instruction Checklist:
President - No instructions posted
Secretary of State - No instructions posted
Secretary of War - No instructions posted

Minister of Culture - No instructions posted
Minister of Science - No instructions posted
Minister of Interior - No instructions posted

Censor - No instructions posted

Governor #1 - No instructions posted

Only elected/appointed officials may post in this thread!

Please, do write "Jan 26, 00:30" instead of "Jan 26, 12:30 am". Those who don't use the 12-hour format have difficulties dealing with 12:xx am/pm, and as far as I can tell, even people who do use 12-hour format often have that problem as well.

You can request the removal of this post after you've read it.

Moderator Action: Done. -- CT

Posting for Culture and Interior instructions.

Culture will remain inactive and should anything arise, the DP has the freedom to handle it. (I see no action for the department to take at this time)

Interior shall order that the worker be sent right one upon completion. Build a road on this flood plain. Then move onto adjacent pigs. Build pasture. After pasture, build road. Then walk on road back to roaded floodplain, and build cottage. If cottage can not be built due to technology, or when the cottage is built if it can be, the worker is to be placed under the Governor of Boaring Wallow's control. Should you have missed my last message, the Governor of Boaring Wallow for term 1 as appointed by the MoI is Chieftess. Thank you.

Research shall remain on Pottery, which is not supposed to finish within Game Session 3.

Should any unforseen event cause Pottery to finish earlier, follow the Preliminary List of Research Objectives published by the Ministry of Science (see my signature) at that given time (the listed is updated quite often, therefore I don't like to copy it to here now and forget to update later).

PS: Regarding changing "12:30am GMT" to "00:30 GMT", only the thread title has been changed, but not the initial post. Please take care of that as well.

Enemy Demands: How to Handle Them

Gold:

Refuse Demand

Techs:
Refuse Demand

Religion switching:
Yes, if friend. refuse if foe

Civic switching:
Refuse Demand

Stop trading with Civ X:
Depends on who we are friends with, Civ X, or Civ Y demanding we stop the trading

Wars and Treaties: Don't declare war on anyone this TC. Don't sign any treaties because we don't have the knowldege of how to do so. ;)

Open Borders:Don't sign Open Borders with anyone, especially not the Mongols, this TC.

End the chat after 10 turns.

Slider: Put the slider to max for Scientific research. Let it go as high as the game allows. The people have spoken and we want to "Get Smart".

Budget: Don't spend any money at all for this turnchat.

End the chat after 10 turns.

Exploration: Send our exploration units to explore in different directions. Try to send only 1 unit in each general direction. If you can, try to find out more information of Mongol territory by skirting their borders.

Defense: Keep our capital safe from harm, whether if be barbarians or Mongols.

Goodie Huts: Pop all goodie huts on sight.

This isn't how it works -- the head on a pole thing only shows up when you meet a civ, or want to declare war with them. The "no" option on demands varies by the type of demand -- for example the no response on a demand for a tech is often "sorry we can't help, it's no rose garden here either". This might even vary based on who the other civ is.

From a rules perspective, it's a good thing we don't automatically declare war by saying no. If saying no implied a declaration of war, then the assembly would have to pass an inititative authorizing no responses.

Also you're missing the most important potential popup, which is to ask if we want open borders. While this is very remote (requires writing to be discovered I think) there should be an instruction for it.

RF, sorry for the "discussion" but this really needs to be stopped. :mischief:

S'kay - reminds me I have an interruption of my own ..

RESTART POLL
Currently the poll stands at 23 "Yes, restart", 22 "No, keep going", 4 "Abstain". These results are disputed, and moderators have been requested to review the results.

I will generate a new start using the option chosen at the beginning. Link to summary of options No Cheat WILL be turned on.

Sorry to post in the TCIT, but if Yes, Restart is in fact the winner I think we should wait. We still have the possibility of a mod with no cheat and logging, but this hasn't been decided on.

Black_Hole,

Yeah, you are right. Main post, and the one you quoted, updated.

I fixed it. I was just trying to make a little joke with the "envoy head on pole line", i didn't mean for it to imply war. :)

I see no harm in playing the session even if the restart poll says yes. For one it hsa not been full checked, there is a voting dicrepance, and two there is still a pending JR and/or Mod.

Summary:
As often happens to scouts wandering in new territory, ours in the far west have failed to report home even once in the past few hundred years. There is no doubt that they have met with a foul fate. Our scouts to the South, however, had much success! They have discovered two herds of horses, and found the lands of the Mongol Genghis Khan and the Russian Peter, whom we met this session.

Our first group of workers has completed a road leading to the pigs, and are now starting a pasture there. We've trained a new group of warriors, who now defend our city from attack.

Our researchers have nearly perfected how to craft pottery, and should complete their research next turn!
