Your attachments don't work.

It's very strange. One my home computer I can download, but on my university computer I get an error, too. It there some trick to attachment uploading?

Otherwise just try the all-inclusive pack.

Just use the easy upload system. It's much better...

BTW, try not to upload files on other sites, unless it is an image file at a place like ImageShack.

The inclusive pack doesn't work either. I just get an advertisement for file uploading.

EDIT: Oh, I see... I have to wait 15 seconds? Does it increase with each download? (i.e., more bandwidth)

Please use the file upload. It's much friendlier, AND, users don't have to click multiple links just to find it.

EDIT: errmm.... ok, I waited 15 seconds, entered the code, and now it wants me to wait again??

I did upload the saves as forum attachments. I don't know what is wrong. Are there different ways to upload files to the forum?

And I can't upload the all-inclusive pack here as it's about 3 MB in size and the forum limit is 500 KB.

This is why we use the file upload link at the bottom of the forum. Much simpler. :)

Yeah, I did not know that. It's irritating anyway, who would find something as well hidden as that? Anyone would intuitively use the attachment function. Why isn't the forum attachment function deactivated if it's not recommended and doesn't work? Or better yet, replace the forum attachment function with a link to the "easy upload".

Anyway, all download links are updated now.

Areas for improvement (I will also post this to the DP Pool government thread)

Thanks DS for your comments, but...

It's less important at present because there aren't a lot of preliminary instructions to do, but there is a strong tradition of doing those instructions and then posting a "turn 0" save from the end of that prep work, before the first full turn of the session starts.

No idea what "pre instructions" are, could you name some examples?

Generally people prefer to see a link to the actual file and not a link to the thread / post where the file is found. This is especially important with screenshots. It's also generally better to put the full-size image instead of the thumbnail.

I disagree with you. I post download links at one location (here in this thread) and refer to it in other threads, so the links can be easily updated, like I had to do now. If links were posted redudantly, updating will give you a headache. "Using references instead of copies whenever possible" is a basic princinple of information processing.

As for screenshots, I personally *hate* to see full-size images in threads, they almost never fits in the window unless they're the only thing in the window (which they're not if they're in the middle of a thread) and makes the whole page utterly unreadable. They are often a big waste of bandwidth, too, because the reader doesn't want to see all the images every time he opens a thread.

Putting the text of the high level summary in the instruction thread gives people a nice closure to the session. [/LIST]

That's a good idea, I will do it.
