I love playing Civ5,i spend as much of my free time as i can get plotting the eventual downfall of my neighbours.I have no real complaints unlike some who seem to take great pleasure in moaning.I would like to have my own insult button though.Apart from the standard denouncing,i can't give a decent reply when my neighbour tells me for the umpteenth time that he is sick of my face and my empire is pathetic.Ok when my cannons and riflemen are ready they will soon wipe them off the face of the earth but a few witty retorts would be nice.

I just cheat them out of all their gold then declare war. Some of the figurehead animations are downright hilarious in that context. It's like "... ... .... I think I got cheated" -> *gets angry*

Helps me sleep better at night.

Oh, at first I thought that this thread was about certain members being here just to insult others...

I remember in CIV4 there was something like how your head would look good at the end of a pole before you declared war

naaa... come on, don't tell me that you don't answer to them, at least in your head, if not loudly, when they come with those stupid, infantile requests or demands... you don't need a button for that.

A button to send my impressions to the (ex) lead designer, now that would be invaluable in my camp... ;)

maybe a leader should say something about your head looking good on a pole when you declare war on them in this game

NO, Civ 5 cant copy EVERY THING IN civ 4. I think that a catch phrase would be plenty annoying think you very much.

Also the option to ask other leaders to combine denounces, they can, why we dont?

Denouncing remains way too random and opaque.

Mouse-over tells you "they have found reasons to denounce you"
What exactly?

There needs to be additional tooltips for this.

Ah, those ****ing little AI bastards... When they insult me, i play a game: i say "you will regret this" and then i declare war when i'm prepared (anyway i will declare war soon or later).

The funny thing that could be would be they remember your behavior and then act accordingly to it, so that they would think twice before insulting you in the future.

Where's the button that tells them to move their troops from my borders..?? How come they can give me the ultimatum to move, or go to war, but I cant do the same to them?

This would just be for your pride against a computer that has no such feelings, right? As it is I can't think of any reason to say "you'll pay for this" rather than "k." It just, what, makes them hate you more? If that, even? What strategy does this serve at all? An insult button would another worthless non-choice.

my point exactly. you insult them "live"... god knows how many times the wife has "reprehended" this world leader for sending one of those AI sobs to hell in front of the children... :D

A button to insult Shafer, now that I want... can I have one? Please? Now that he has been fir... eerrr, now that he has been promoted to External Services?:D

The worst part is that if they do have troops near your borders, your foreign advisor will comment on it. You can't do anything about it yourself, though

I believe players need better ways to communicate with AI. More options to tell them off, and WHY you are telling them off is always good.

The AI can always be programmed to use that feedback into their plans and strategy.

Edit: when the AI calls you up to tell you your troops are on their borders, it is just them letting you know they know. There is no reputation or relationship hit AFAIK.

It is assumed human players KNOW when an AI has parked troops on your borders. lol.

Similarly more feedback on you liking then and WHY will also help.

How about, "We fear you are becoming too annoying"
 This made me laugh.

As for an insut button, I agree with some of the above posters that it would not be a feature worth implementing as it would serve no significant game-design purpose. With that said, I would actually like to see the AI's ability to insult removed as well. I can't imagine a time when I ever felt it either motivated me into any kind of action, or made me feel more involved in the game at all. Pretty useless imo.

I want this, too.

The insult button, not so much.
