Intelligence Thread: Hatshepsut Hispania

Spain: Conquistador / Citadel
Hatshepsut: Creative/Spiritual

This one can change civic at will, so never an anarchy window to attack in, also expect deep borders which is hard to penetrate. Best window of attack is just as we get Samurai ahead of their conquistadors and citadels.

We ran into Hatty First so she may be very close.
Hatty is not the most warlike civ but is one of the better AI at developing.
Spain gives her a strong UU in the middle ages and one that the AI would use fairly well. She does not have the war chariot, so unlike a normal game she does not have this UU to defend her.

With this in mind I think, that if she is close, Hatty is the one to be agressive with, while lincoln is the one to work peacefully with, but I can not really be solid on this opinion until i see the locations of there capitals.

You can also expect her to pick up an early religion.

edit- Hatti is one of those AI that likes to rush toward it.

I still think we can do this with Samurais (A war with the Spanish), if we decide to head straight for Civil Service via Code of Laws, and manage to get iron working , metal casting and machinery in time for building these. A chariot/Horse archer war could also be a plan.
Yet, we need metals etc for attacking cities, so I guess we are not really fit for a war before we got 4-5 cities up and managed to develop them some.

Main problem is the cultural war here. I think Protectors of Faith City needs to confront here, and build as much culture as possible with some defenders as well. This fits in both roleplay and strategy etc. Since she found us 10 turns into the game, she cannot be far away, likely SW, W or NW, as we just saw her take the village straight south of us with an archer, a unit that moves 1 tile per turn.

We can extrapolate that since she was straight south of us by turn 10, with 1 tile movement per turn, that she is within a radius of some 7-11 tiles somewhere in the Western and Southwestern Quadrant, now that we have covered most of the Northwestern Quadrant.

Hmm, if we want a war against Hatty, I think we would need the Warlords city near Hatty.

Half production time of temple, library, theatre and coloseum PLUS 2 culture points due to creative and with mysticism as a starting tech (meaning she got a big chance for early religion with the Spanish start tech) suggests she will erode our borders from day one, meaning we will lose any tile resource conflict quickly. We cannot take on her without harming growth the first 70-100 turns, but if we decide on targeting Samurai, relevant techs and getting iron early, it will be a much easier war, and the cities will be quite juicy to get.

We would need the Protectors of Faith there, otherwise the culture would eat away the military city. Protectors of faith would need to build culture and a good defense, whereas the military city needs to be between both the Babylonians and the Spanish as I see it.

Military city should not need a lot of culture, but focus on barracks and military builds, possibly pick up some key resources too.

This sustains the argument that we need Protectors of the Faith to protect our faith (culture) so to speak. Protectors of the faith needs a good military defense city, with culture builds, and enough production and gold income to sustain it and its garrison.

This is what I recommend the Faith Faction to think of, when considering a city.

You convinced me, never thought about it that way, but it seems logical now.

It is a big chance she got a religion, as Spanish starts with Mysticism.

This means we need to inoculate us with the Spanish religion and spread it internally (Faith job), which will create harmonious relations until the point we got Samurais to take them.

Open borders and let her waste her hammers upon spreading. Then we take the holy city with the shrine.

This can result into a nice crusade RP story :P

Yes, Open Borders with Egypt makes sense (after we filled in our lands with city, so her culture cannot eat us up), this allows us to map her in detail.

I know This will make me sound like a war monger and not a philospher but.

I think we should be very very very mean to good old Hatty.

I would get a chariot out to get to her boarders and worker steal. Then I would make sure that she could not acess and stratigic resources for expansion. I would take as much workers as I could, then finish her off. If we can take all of her workers then she will never be a threat to us.

On the less mean side I think we should be quite friendly with Lincoln.

I'm really hoping Hatty gets Judaism or Hinduism.

I'm fine with settling towards her to prevent expansion, especially since I kind of wanted to settle on that river anyway.

Ya, I also agree, that we need should plan a classical late ancient era war with them, as they should be the easiest ones to take, and getting a possible holy city would generate a lot of cha ching

Luckily it is not for you to decide where our holy city is placed.
