A thread idea, not sure if it will have much use, but anyway :)

You can post your own favorites. Here are some to start with:

-Μνασέας δὲ παρὰ Γέταις τὸν Κρόνον τιμᾶσθαι καὶ καλεῖσθαι Ζάμολξιν....
(According to Mnaseas - student of Eratosthenes, 3rd century BC scholar from Patrai - the Getae honor Saturn - Cronos - and call him Zamolxis). Source: Byzantine Souida encyclopedia.

-Isti Mirant Stella.
(Those people marvel at the Star). Text in a part of the Bayeux Tapestry, about the battle of Hastings and the build-up to it.

-Τὸ δὲ τὴν πόλιν σοι δοῦναι, οὔτ’ ἐμόν ἐστιν οὔτ’ ἄλλου τῶν κατοικούντων ἐν ταύτῃ· κοινῇ γὰρ γνώμῃ πάντες αὐτοπροαιρέτως ἀποθανοῦμεν καὶ οὐ φεισόμεθα τῆς ζωῆς ἡμῶν.
