I'm trying to install Civ IV on my computer but every time the installer gets to the file "intro.bik" it immediately gives me a "not responding" dialogue and tells me to shut it down.

These are the error dialogue details:

These are my computer specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz
3.1 GHz Performance Rated at: 6.98 GHz
4.5 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
1.7 GB Video RAM
DirectX v11
Sound Card: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
Free Disc Space: 469.2 GB

According to systemrequirementslab.com I pass every requirement except my OS and video card (even though individual spec req are met for the video card, it failed as a whole.) Would that stop the game from installing? Also, I kind of assumed that since Windows 7 was newer than Vista or other versions that the game would work but systemrequirementslab.com says this about my OS: Unfortunately Windows 7 was not available when this product was released, so it is not OFFICIALLY supported. In some cases if the product runs on Windows Vista, it may also run on Windows 7. Please review the publisher’s website for more information.

This is not a disc, it is an Amazon digital download. I searched the forums looking for an answer and even though the error is addressed, I never found a resolution. I apologize if this thread is redundant and would really appreciate it if someone pointed me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Brandi

Normally the installation should work. Is it possible to redownload the whole thing from Amazon?

Did you only the base game, or with expansions (e.g. the complete version)?
Because the base game is not compatible to Win7 (at least in most cases; there are people who are somehow able to run it on Win7), but the expansions are.

I purchased the "complete" version. I'd try redownloading it except it took THREE DAYS on my Korean internet connection. (To be clear, I'm an American living in Korea with a US billing address... just in case anyone wondered whether that could be an issue.) I submitted a help desk ticket to Amazon but from looking through their standard troubleshooting procedures, they'll want me to redownload it as well. Argh.

Thanks for your reply, The_J

I thought the broad band penetrition in Korea was highest in the world...

On the issue: It sounds that the file might have been damaged during the download (which gets more likely if the download lasts long), so the only fix would be to redownload it (which sure doesn't help if it again takes so long).
