My internet is acting up badly tonight, but if theres not a new save up tomorrow I'll take the last available one even if there is a roll back on turns. Sorry for not acting a bit earlier.
Ok I've taken down Neils save from 850AD. We're in a strongish position running neck and neck with Qin on the power score.
However this equates to just 11 Axemen of an attack force. So I propose teching to CS and Machinery Engineering, spamming cats and Samurai (ok we can start on these guys in 3 turns) and then attacking. On upgrades I think we should promote the General (d'uh) and the 3 CR3 Axes sitting in New Bark town. All axes with shock (or promotable to such) will be left alone but brought along to clear out/defend captured cities. We will need some spears or pikes (not too many) for anti-horse defence.
On tech we're at a sustainable rate atm of about 43% (-11 @50%; +7 @40%) so I propose getting our fiancial cities up and running. This means cottaging up Fuschia, Veridian, Celadon and New Bark town. This of course means more workers so I'll be applying the whip a nice bit (I will also double-whip Sams anywhere with high food count, taking advantage of HR happiness).
Finally while we're secure in the West the East needs it's backlines filled up. I'll be planting settlers on the two blue sites I picked out earlier, which will also be whipped.
Final edit: I'll play tomorrow, so that anyone wanting to make suggestions will have time to do so.
Yeah I've been reading the PB2 reports (well after the fact) over on Realms Beyond and it really opened my eyes on how much synergy there is between the whip and HR especially when insta-whipping an army. It's a tactic I intend to exploit over the next 10 turns.
OK I've the ten turns played, no Samurai yet and power is degraded somewhat vis-a-vis Qin. But overall I think I've played a good set here.
First an autolog:

And finally, Land:
Spoiler:
Now the way I see it is that we'll have to go on a bit of a whip-fest next 2 turnsets to get an anti-Qin army out. Sorry about not whipping military but forgot Samurai have Machinery requirement too . The best thing to do is to whip the cities with the largest food suplusses in them. Get granaries and forges in before the army, then whip away to your hearts content.
The Qin war will have to wait a while me-thinks though, and it may be better to go for Steel and/or rifling before taking him out completely, using the Samurai only for clearing our part of the continent.
On tech after Machinery probably and deffo after Enigneering we should beeline Nationalism and the Taj and push for Drafted rifles after that.
The save:
Finally sorry for the lack of roleplay in the report busy at the moment (trying to get my Irish up to scratch for post-grad degree application).
Oh yeah what I meant with the * was that I whipped on the last turn for maximum overflow of 1 pop (44 and 41 hammers respectively), sorry for not putting that in. It's a nice little trick I like to do from time to time.
