IO5 - Gotta Catch 'Em All!

So it is, so it is Brian. To be sure ;)

EDIT: daichead? Does that mean what I think it means?

Well actually it used be dhá scór down here in Munster before the West-Brits tried to learn Irish by turning it into English.

Well, it's your turn now Brian so it is so it is.

Where do you stand on axe rushing? I'd rather rex and tech and build pyramids while keeping a close eye on Alex the crazy warmongerer myself.

I like blood, long-term I think the settle would probably be stronger but the Jungle chopping will drag, but if Asoka's land is good we could catapult into a big position. I think at the moment an axe-rush is the easier to manage.

OK, but watch out for Alex (keep checking if he goes WHEOOHRN) and tech writing to get OB with Asoka then.

For all the above impertinence I'm going to say the following as Gaeilge:

Tá sé agam. Beidh mé in ann imirt ar an cor amárach go luath. Bhíos abhaile ag ghearradh na crainn chun an daichead casúr breise a fháil.

Tá go maith.

Ok looking at the save we can really go each way. If I rush Pallet will go finish worker, worker, Axe, Axe, Axe, Axe, etc (I'll chop and slave the axes). Pewter will go Monument, WB, Lighthouse, Axes.

However we can also go peaceful here and if we do it expeditiously we could get as much as what I've dot-mapped in the pic below, The north Pig city will be a powerhouse by CS, CowSpiceBananaRice speaks for itself, and RiceSugarBananaGems will be a good GP farm. Only problem is all that jungle, which would mean immediate changeover to IW for chops.

Personally I prefer the "If you wish for war, then prepare for war route", but that's my inner Gallóglaigh talking. With chops and slaves and later Pewter help we can take out Asoka. Also we can do a bit of colonising out of Pewter if we want to instead.

P.S. I will be giving all units Pokemon names during my turnset, there are over 490 current speices out there that should be enough.

It's your decision...

And yes, give Pokemon names! Always a good idea, that. Don't forget to rename Clamstone Copse (a good name if we weren't Pokethemed) to Pewter City.

Not my fault, the guy who translated your Gaelic as...

I've got it. I will be able to play early tomorrow as agreed. I was home cutting the trees to get the forty additional hammers."

Which seemed accurate, told me to say it.

Ah ok I thought he was calling us a bunch of daicheads.

Apart from the as agreed the translation is pretty spot on (not accurate, as with all translations) .

Don't even want to know, anyway thought Liverpool was Ireland in Exile.

I'm half Scottish, sorry. I do have an Irish name though (Kieren) - but only so my full name could be an anagram of "Eerie Dr. Dick Vagina" (hence why LucyDuke calls me Dick on fiftychat).

:lol::lol::lol:

Eerie Dr. Dick Vagina

:lol::lol::lol:

So we are playing Carry On BtS

I was shocked when I discovered that was an anagram of my name. I bet my parents were up all night with the scrabble letters and deliberately spelt Kieron/Ciaron wrong just to make it work.

Well the proper spelling of it in Irish is Ciarán (the second a to be pronounced awwwwwwwwwwww), as it's my father's name.

So seeing as we've spent more time discussing my native (but unspoken) tongue here than the actual game, I'm assuming that ye lot don't mind a 15-turn military build-up. I'm playing now by the way.

Well mine the copper straight away ;)

Well as you can see from my title we've not done much in the last 15 turns so I'll flesh out my turn report with some role playing.

As you know all adventures need a theme tune and here's ours:

No, no, hold on a minute there Brian we're not stoned anymore, we're eleven year old Japanese animé characters:

Ah brings back fond memories of my student days, when any beer was good and dodging classes was kewl!

Turn 80
Queue a worker in Pallet.
Turn 81
Switch to slavery (part of our master plan MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!)
Turn 83
Pallet Worker>worker
Turn 85
Defending hill warrior defeats barb warrior, I capture Onix!
Turn 88
Defending jungle warrior defeats barb warrior, I capture Bulbasaur!
Turn 90
Pallet Worker>warrior
Turn 92
Pallet Warrior>warrior
Turn 93
Have copper in Pallet
Turn 94
Pewter Monument>WB
Turn 95
Chop two forests into 1st axe (50 overflow)

Nothing else happened, it was so boring there was no point in even taking screenies, I would chop/slave out axes over the next 15 turns from Pallet we have 330 chop hammers available in cultural borders, and 2 workers. We should get 6 axes from this alone, and with some slaving a few more.
Here's the save:

I was already building a worker in pallet Brian... (Oh I see you built 2, ok).

I love the Stranglers but Hanging Around is my fave track. Golden Brown best song ever about smack or marijuana though.

Also, if you didn't whip anything, why did you change into slavery?

I normally change into slavery when I have a settler on the way to a new site or am about to declare war, unless I'm going to whip some axes. I'd get pottery before whipping heavily anyway (for granaries).

Looks like we chopping away a quickly chopped pyramids anyway ;)

I hope the chopped axe was in the capital (where we have a barracks). I'd suggest building a barracks in Pewter Town as well, they are half price for aggressive Toku.

All chops are in capital, Pewter will not be good enough to contribute to war effort until up and running (It doesn't really have enough growth, and very few chops available)

I always switch to Slavery ASAP, but on whips, as copper wasn't in until c. turn 92 there was no real whip opportunity. On builds Axe 1 turn, axe 1 turn, then whip an axe. (I'm not sure how to whip abuse the axes but if we can we should).
