IO5 - Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Hey, I was born in Scotland, but you are correct, deep fried anything is very popular. They wouldn't want to eat/drink anything that didn't harden their arteries.

@Brian, you are free, in that the English don't have to massively subsidise Ireland, like they do with Scotland.

Bah who need English subsidies, when you've got German ones. P.S. there's a good shout for saying that Scottish oil money has been subsidising England since the mid '70's.

Yeah, my relatives say this all the time.

We have something similiar here, in that the state of Western Australia (where all the Iron is) makes lots of money for Oz in resource boom years, and costs Oz lots in the bust years.
Everytime there is a boom, they want to secede!

More dye, that's boring, but also spices and Clamperl. Worth checking out, but I'd also wanna see what's N.

The Save

You should really say who should take the save ;)

Hope it's not me, I'm going to bed drunk now.

Oh right I keep forgetting to post a roster in my turnset posts.

IdiotsOpposite
Matrix the Kitty - just played
Neilmeister - up
ParadigmShifter - on deck
Brian Shanahan

Good job! Come back, Matrix! Go, Neilmeister!

Alrighty then, here is a vague ppp:

Change worker to mine that PH, and pray for Copper.
Unless the warriors reveal something spectacular NW or SE of our cap, I will send the settler E to get the horses/gems/cow or rice. Its a shame the Marble site is crap, especially with free Masonry.

Can I designate Asoka as victim 1. If we do get copper in our borders, then after the settler lets axe-rush him. Hopefully he placed his cities wisely.

Sounds like a pln to me, and for that reason Asoka is going to be henceforth known as Gary Oak (the rival in the first animé).

Sounds fine to me, too.

Works for me. Oh, and Matrix...

Walking along the shore? You DO remember the last time a Pokemon Trainer did THAT, don't you? It's bad news!!

Please... I don't want my Hall of Fame to be messed up...

Stay away from the shoreline!

Played for 15 turns, until the settler was built.
Sorry, wasn't taking notes for exact dates, but this is what happened:

- Apparently, we are Pathetic.
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0021.jpg

- Mined the hill
- Got a map from a hut, it showed us where another hut was.
- Got a new tech, BW from the next hut, 1 turn before researching it
- Copper is to the north
- Met the Chinese, he is to the far NE
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0022.jpg

- Barb Archer sitting on a hut, decided to not attack our Warrior
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0023.jpg

- Just built the settler (he hasn't moved yet)

Settling options:
Spoiler :

Civ4ScreenShot0025.jpg

I think we have a big choice to make:
1) Settle Copper/Clams/Stone/Sugar, chop lots of Axes and rush Gary asOaka
2) Settle Horses/Gems/Rice/Cows/Sugar and maybe beeline IW.

There will of course be other settling options, and feel free to contribute. (Careful, the settler hasn't moved yet).
Site 1 is coastal, so we won't even need to build a road to it.
Site 2 is in the middle of the jungle.

Worker is/was roading towards the East.
1 Warrior is fortified.

I vote for site 1, because I feel that Gary Oak is annoying. Besides, a true Pokemon Master is ruthless, willing even to kill his own Pokemon (slavery civic) to get the job done.

Axeman, I choose you!

So yeah, Asoaka-bashing FTW. And by bashing, I mean with the sharp end of an axe. We can utilize protective later, for now lets utilize aggressive!

(Note: I hear a lot of people saying Protective is useless. One thing they seem to forget is that it makes all gunpowder units start with Drill. If we play our cards right, we could get Drill IV Infantry right out of the gate. Drill IV... that's nice.)

Site 1 is probably my preference as well. Axe rushing Gary should be well worth it.

If we haven't won well before Infantry, I will eat my hat.

Infantry come with Assembly Line, so we're going to be building them at the end.

Anyways, yeah, I agree on axerushing Asoka. Nobody else is anywhere near that jungle. We can settle it later.

Only to dance on the grave of the last civ standing!

Well, would Drill IV Riflemen work out for you instead?

Or perhaps, if we make it that far (which we won't), Drill IV Mech Infantry!

The point is, with a measly 10 xp our Riflemen can get about 5 first strikes on average. 5 is a lot, I'm sure you'll agree. This is why I laugh when people tell me protective is useless.

"OK then, why don't you attack those City Garrison III Longbowmen in a Castled city on a hill? Did I mention that they haven't been used in battle yet, and all I had to do was run Vassalage as a civic? Yeah, have fun with that."
