Iron Works

Has anyone ever managed to build the Iron Works Wonder. I was browsing the manual last night and I saw this wonder that i'd never built. Then I saw that you needed both coal and iron within a city radius and i've never seen resorces that close to each other.

I have gotten it in two out of three games i've played

Almost all of the games I have played, I was able to build the Iron Works. You just have to be on the watch for the two resources (or the pop-up), and start building it right away. If you wait, you'll end up losing one of the resources and probably won't be able to build it anywhere again.

I have been able to build it twice in all my games. I guess playing on a huge map doesn't help since it's fairly unusual to have ressources very close to each others.
I have an interesting spot in my current game though, it's an iron moutain in the middle of jungles, which as you all know, are always full of coal There is also a river, so I can maybe build the hoover dam in 10 turns

No offense Chris,but you really could have used the other thread, we had this one just a few days ago.So for better answers take a peek maybe.

In general ppl say it´s marvelous,240 shields depending on location,builds wonders in a few turns,pumps out every unit in one turn...yes it sure is great, not too hard to build either.Maybe raze the AI´s cities and build one in between the resources,have also heard if you can build it, do so immediately!Don´t finish building anything else,switch to it, have heard one of the resources usually depletes and won´t let you build the Iron Works,yet you can complete it,if you switched before the resource disappeared!!!

Thanks, it sounds well worth having. I'll keep a look out in future for a suitable place to build a city.
