So, not much to say.... but I thought this was funny. Immediately after discovering electricity this happened to my screen:

Light out! This is the first time this kind of graphics glitch has happened... I saved exited the program and reloaded.... seems to be working fine, hopefully it was a one time thing. Sure made me laugh though.

Strange graphic errors in MANY 3D games can be a sign that your computer gets too hot.
But Civ4 having some strange graphic errors on many cards due to compartibility and customizability, 2 attributes that usually do not mix well, is nothing too special.

It was shuffle with toroidal wrap... so yes most likely a fractal map. I also don't generally play with any win conditions (weird I know). Instead I simply just play until I get bored. In this particular game I was able to get enough of my neighbors to declare war with one another, while I stayed out of the way, built up my military strength and wealth, so that by 1800 I was second in points, first in military power, and easily first in wealth.

Unfortunately no one would declare war on the juggernaught that was the Celts... So they still have me beat by 400 points, and are second in military strength. Im confident my SEALS can bring them to their knees however. :)

Not to say Im any good as a player.... Im actually fairly horrible :D
Everything Ive learned about this game I learned from watching a few of Sisiutil's earlier ALC games, which were extremely helpful.

Toroidal is a map option in the custom game screen. It's in vanilla and warlords. The wrap options are flat, cylindrical, and toroidal. Flat, obviously, has no wrap, cylindrical is the default, with x-wrap (you go east far enough and you'll end up in the west), and toroidal has x- and y-wrap, so it wraps left-right and top-bottom, too. That's why the continent in the screencap seems to match up at the top and bottom edges.
