My worker must have been playing hooky when the teacher taught irrigation. I have no irrigation button and nothing happens when I press "i". This happens on either grassland or forest squares - haven't tried other squares yet.

BTW, I am talking Civ III and have played both Civ I and II.

Thanks

Edit: Padma beat me to it. :p

Welcome to CFC, by the way! :D [party]

Yep, square is next to water, ocean in fact. As I recall with Civ II, you hit the "I" key to clear forest on forested land...just assumed it would be same with Civ III. No mod, just installed game and was getting familiar with it.

Is there a file I can look at to see what the irrigation key is set to or set it if missing?

You can't irrigate with ocean until you get Electricity. :) (It provides desalinzation plants, I guess.)

Have a feeling I'm going to be a frequent visitor to this board.
Thank you!
I think I remember when I first played Civ 1 being pretty incredulous about the salt water irrigation thingy. I'm impressed and looks like I'm in for some good times.

Irrigation is "I"
Clear Forest is "Ctrl+C" IIRC
And you can't irrigate without fresh water before electricity

My Conquests manual has Shift+F:lol:
I'll check it from game
EDIT: It's Shift+C:)

After playing for awhile I can see why it doesn't pop right to mind, those squares are too valuable. Even now my capital has money going into the treasury, ugh....

Just a bit of trivia here, for those of you who never played Civ I or II, you could just hit the "i" key and clear a forest or jungle and of course it worked for the ever popular irrigation.
