Irritated and disappointed

Console gamers already deal with having to have multiple copies of the game to run multiplayer exercises - 1 for each person playing and I don't see it as horrific.
Last time I checked Civilization wasn't a console game...... Oh wait!.... S...! It IS a console game. My bad.

My first impulse was to write that this was known and you could have found out about it on the interwebs.

Don't go looking on the webs for info on Civ V. On the developers own official homepage it is still in development or "Coming Soon" as they put it.

Times have changed... there's no need for LAN or Hotseat anymore.

In the current world not everyone has the means to have the latest setup.

Hotseat is the Best way for a family to enjoy Civ together, and by not including it, the game was diminished in appeal to a lot of people.

A very sad mistake by the makers.

Quick Reply here now that it is Late December
For all the "UseNet" comments... and just where do you think "Forums" like this evolved from??? LOL :D hehehehehe yea... yea... I am an old fart...

We finally got the LAN Multiplayer to work for us... The reason it would not work was when the second player joins, steam will not allow a person to join with the same "player" name as the first. Wife went in and changed her "in game" player name to something other than mine and it worked.

We still have yet to be able to play a full game al the way through. The game crashes on us randomly after about 300 turns or so. Both of our systems fall in the middle for statistics of recommended play. Not Top of the line but way above the minimum requirements.

On Hotseat... well the game has been out since Mid-October I believe and here it is almost January of 2011 and still no HotSeat. go figure that one...

Bottom line... We have returned to CIV 4 and are enjoying that game. CIV 5 "beta" Disk is sitting lonely on the shelf. From now on, I will wait on any Firaxis or CIV games for atleast 2 years before buying them to ensure this never happens again if I purchase them at all.

It's all about the money. Companies nowadays want you to have 2 games for the same house. Or 3 or 4 if you have that many brothers

funny post

mentions "wife" about 8 billion times

in a thread entitled "irritated and disapointed"

methinks there is a bigger issue then civ5 at hand

lol

omg true, and if you use the necessary letters from his sentences you see you can make an invocation of the devil!

Funny enough I heard the exact same thing from a young couple, they didn't get Civ5 for their PC because there was no hotseat, i.e. they couldn't play it together against each other, or whatever, so they went back to their Xbox 360, played the Sims or something instead. :) And that's no bad thing, because Civ5 is a big disappointment, and you don't want to be demoralized with your girlfriend in tow :)

Yep. Sounds about par for this round
I'm not holding my breath. I wonder if it would crash if I try to play a tiny map duel?
