Is Civ 4 Better than Chess?

Definitely Civ IV.
First off, it's the same genre and Civ IV is simply more complex. Both sides start with the same but are given way more options than in chess.
And besides you can prove in mathematical game theory that you qould always be able to win or come to a draw if you make no mistakes. So why would I play a game where everytime when I lose I know it was just my mistake and not the brilliance of the opponent? *g*

Oh - and as a side note: chess is really a test of your memory. You have to go through as many future turns as possible, remember them all and make your next move based on that. And even then in case your opponent plays flawless you cannot win.
My memory was never very good, but I like to try creative strategies, where the outcome is unclear at the beginning. So: CIV IV all the way *g*

Civ4, cause I can play it without having to think too much after work, unlike chess.
