Is Deity possible - no tech trades/no spying?

Hi, I've read a lot of the game writeups on here and it seems as though tech trading/spying is the way to catch up on deity. Has anyone seen any writeups on deity with tech trading/brokering disabled and no spying? Is it possible? This is what I play on immortal, but on deity... I'm not even close

Without spying, I have no idea how to win deity generally speaking, but if cook the start or get lucky, you may get nice neighbours that don't go WHEEON on PLEASED stance. Which means easy culture victory...as Lib race does not really need AI help.

Otherwise an AP victory can be possible.

As for space/conquest/dom, I have not the slightest idea how to win those without any technological contacts with the AI and his/her deity bonuses.

And I don't even think getting Internet first is possible without spies and tech trading.

Very possible with the Incans. A Quecha rush will still leave a good player with a lead in land on balanced maps and if it's good land you can usually leverage that into decisive cuirassier/cavalry domination via education/liberalism beeline.

Also financial becomes stronger due to higher base tech rate. So the other financial leaders would give you a good chance. Liz, Willem, Hannibal, even Wang with his university are all great choices for no tech trades.

Yes, it is possible. I know this because I play these settings often. I will say though, it completely depends on the type of map you are playing, and the start that you get.

I would never try it without a gold/heavy food start.

An AW deity game with default setting and random map would rank 20/10 as that's just IMPOSSIBLE, while fending one single deity AI's DOW is not that hard.

Duckweed is a really strong reference on deity.
So, I'm not sure how you deal AW deity.

Just curious how you handle degenerated AI.

Play marathon and spam rush out a ton of land with immortals like ironhead or pauliskhan did for those fast space race wins with darius.
