plz help me

It's not you.

The governors are idiots. I had one building a battleship in a 14 tile lake.

yes, the governors are stupid, I only use them to manage citizen moodes to speed up the game.

Sometimes I find it rather amusing that people will complain about how stupid the AI civs are, then use city governors and automated workers--which use the same routines the AI uses to manage its own cities and workers.

It is not the game that is stupid , our computers that are too slow.

Not much thinking can be done by a 2Ghz computer.

Only after we all buy 15Ghz computers is that we will have AI that are actually inteligent until then we will have to allow all the AIs to cheat in order for them to compete with us.

SO DO NOT BALME FIRAXIS, THEY DID THE BEST THE COULD

Yep. The Governers are completely thick.

They may have been useful for managing production if it was possible to specify build orders for each individual unit. I have very rarely built Privateers but have lost count of the number of times the Governer suggests them, sometimes hundreds of times in a game. It gets to be very annoying, especially later in the game if you miss changing the order and find that one has been built by mistake. Sure, I'd rather have a Privateer than a Battleship!

I know you can get round this a bit by using the build queue but surely the easiest option would have been to have a check box for each unit, rather than a general order for air, ground, naval etc.

marshal thukov: there's a little button at the top right end of every post that say 'edit'. click that, and you can correct the typos in your posts.

OT: the govs are thick, as is the AI. doN'
t use them until Firaixs at least puts in the option: keep city in WLTKD

Hey thanks did not know that.

We have to bear in mind that any improvement in AI (includes gorvernor ) will require greater Cpu power.
The game is already sluggish with this AI, If one improves it the Pc will crash

I actually stopped using the governers. I rarely even use them when i have over 200 cities. They are just to plain stupid to keep mods right and work the right tiles.

about the mood control: remember that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT WLTKD!!!!!!!! They will NOT keep the city in it, even if it cannot grow anyways (lacking Hospital)!!!

i watched a gov keep a city content with 4 extra food and 4 extra commerce that couldn't grow. Build time for Courthouse was 40 turns. I took it out of the 'puters hands, turned 2 of the citizens into entertainers and the time dropped to 6(!) i.e. 7 because it takes a turn to take effect. The city still had about 6 food over!

I don't use 'em. Won't use 'em. The governors' routine is the same as the AI routine that can lose games at the Deity level even with the insane discounts on unit production and support.

Maybe Zouave thinks that Governors actually sabotage our production in order to help the AI...

then why put the city governor feature in the game? if it's buggy and doesn't work as intended then do away with it. if it's only there to annoy gamers then they(FIRAXIS and the like) just get a "black eye" in their reputation as game developers.

The governors work as intended. So do automatic cars. But I get better gas mileage by driving a stick-shift.

Ummmmm....
Did you tell him not to build any artillery units?
If so, in Preferences, make certain you do not have Always Build Previously Built Unit toggled, as it supercedes the City Governor.
Also, if you have built all possible improvement, depending on the version you play, and difficulty level I think, the Governer selects a default build program rather than build nothing.

Yes, you'll need to keep an eye on cities that reach 6 or 12 and can't grow any more, or you'll be loosing tax & shields...

Anyone get the irony in that post? ;):D

Portuguese: not only size 6/12, but also 7 to 11 and onwards! What good is a growing city with hardly any production and income???? Better have it grow slower and produce more via WLTKD!

WarlordMatt: I had given up already  j/k, it was a typo
