So the Orthodox Church are fine on masturbation?
They are ? :run: Well i don't recall them mentioning that in the 12 years of mandatory religion classes.
It must be one of those things-we-tacitly-approve or the things-we-know-people-do-but-we-are-humans-so-why-rant-about-it that makes the Orthodox Church cool. :D (wiki has no entry on this matter :hmm:)

But we're threadjacking and being :spank: . We should stick to the topic ...

What's the appeal of pokemon is, if it's not the TV show?

Because its a video game and started out as video game? Not to mention its addicting and good.

It all depends on your age. There's a friend of mine... 17 years old, and he still plays pokemon. That is a sin, in my opinion.

Why do people think its so wrong to play a video game just because lots of kids play it?

Its a good game IMO, and thats all that matters. I dont do anything related to pokemon except play the game sometimes.

About the Pokemon and dating not being compatible:

I'm playing a Pokemon succession game with a girl right now. (No, not RIGHT now, and no, she's not my sister)

The appeal of Pokemon is more nostalgia nowadays than truly liking the game. It's more like "Oh my god! I remember that!"

Emulators and save states. (Which sounds illegal, but isn't as long as you own the game)

Or you could physically hand over the game cartridge or snail mail it, I guess.

It's the Harry Potter effect, now the books are for Children or teens, but many adults read them, so are they being age traitors, or can we conclude something else?

I think that sums up my thoughts on the pokemon thing. Pokemon may be directed to a "target audience" but that doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to adults.

Of course, one over the age of 10 should never admit to playing pokemon while in conversation, for you would probably lose all respect from those you converse with.

Play whatever makes you happy

Actually I would be really interested if someone over 20 openly admitted to playing and liking Pokemon. 9 times out of 10 the guy will be a complete moron, but if he's in the 10% part...

I used to play Pokemon in middle school....a lot. Card Games, gameboy, the whole shebang. I even competed in card game tournements, and won a little bit of money.

Then I discovered sports and girls...and really haven't picked it up since. I got made fun of for it when I was 14, back in the hieght of pokemania. I can't imagine it would be "cool" now.

What kind of moron admits to liking Pokemon when they're over 20?
I mean that literally- Most morons I know would stop playing a fun game due to social stigma... If they admit to playing it, I imagine they've got to be more free-thinking self-confident types.

Only if they're stupid.
Quoted for truth.

It's a rather good game, in my opinion. Very addictive, and a fantastic timewaster on a GB. Seeing as it is just a game, I don't see anything that suggests playing it means you're not going to be able to have a normal lifestyle.

That said, Nintendo did take it a bit too far (read: exploited whatever field they could with the product) with the franchise. I was happy with good ol' Pokemon Blue.

Where on Earth did you hear that tripe that "playing pokemon is a sin"?

When there are games like Civilization where you have to use your brain, of course it is.

I don't like any Japanese anime or similar cartoon stuff. I guess I should be ringing a bell with an "unclean" sign around my neck in CFC?
Playing with yourself is a sin, Pokemon isn't, play with whatever dolls you like; although I think it's rubbish, crudely drawn, bad plots with no real insight, but then I am over 20 so I would think that, I'm not exactly its target audience.
Admit it Sidhe, you're well over 30 too ;)
Don't worry, He won't see you. He's not like the cat in the ceiling.
And you don't have to use yer noodle in pokemon.

Go study before saying too much.
:salute: Yessar, will update my pokemon knowledge sir. HUA!

Not nearly as much as in civ. Pokemon is a rock-paper-scissors game. Granted, the civ4 combat system is essentially rock-paper-scissors, but there's a lot more to civ than combat.
