Replay from a certain point and achieve different victories in the same game.

My current game I am in the early 1900's and I believe that at this point depending on my focus I could technically win the game by

1) Domination - Only 3 Civs are not my vassals and I am very near the Land % and over the Pop %
2) Conquest - Vassal the remaining civs...
3) Space Race - I have the Apollo Program and possess the production to churn out the space ship if I forgo military production (Although I do have a massive standing army/navy/air force/nuclear arsenal)
4) Cultural - As it stands two cities will reach legendary by 2050 with very little help, I may need to ramp it up to get the 3rd one though.
5) Diplomatic - I have 18 Vassals... I simply need to put it to a vote

So I was wondering if anyone ever reloads a game from a certain point to try and win the game in as many ways possible.

eh, personally, once I've won, I've won, and I start another game... :) but, then, I don't like having multiple copies of the same game on my Hall of Fame board; this might not bother you as much.

So, nope, for me personally it's one win (or loss, for that matter!) per game.

I sometimes do it if i want to try a different strategy - often on a games whre i was not pleased with my results. I think this helps realizing my mistakes and learning how to do things better. Usually i do not play out those games till a Victory, as it becomes boring rather fast.

sometimes i save a game at a key decision point like that, and later i'll go back to it to play "what if i'd gone to war instead of whatever i did do." i rename the leader when i play through it again because i keep way too many saves around so i'd get that "do you want to replace blah blah file" message otherwise.

i've also kept playing after a domination win just to wipe everybody off the map a few times*. hubby looks over, sees the victory message on the screen and says "dear ... you already won!" i say "and? i'm still having fun and there is a one more turn option after all!"

*edit: i mean i've done the play afterwards thing a few times, not that i wipe them off the map a few times in the same game. i'm not that weird!

I won a domination victory recently and reloaded to win a corporate cultural victory because I've never won like that.

I actually had to liberate a few cities not to win by domination but it was just an experiment.

What's a corporate victory

I think he means a cultural victory fueled by corporations that spread culture, but not completely sure.... :)

A couple of games ago I wondered how things might have gone if I'd done it differently. I played again from the 4000 BC auto-save, and even managed to forget much (but not all) of what I'd learned of the lay of the land from the first time around.

It CAN (but might not) be worth it to replay. Be your own judge -- others can't do it for you!

I said a corporate cultural victory. Just an ordinary cultural victory won with corporations generating culture.

I frequently save branch-points from which I can choose to go for different forms of victory or to win by a different strategy (with the advantage of more knowledge of the world, gained from the earlier run). Currently I'm going for Conquest, after achieving a Space win, and I have another branch-point saved for another go for Space, this time with a very much bigger empire and more techs as a base. Which version will, I wonder, give me the best score ?

I actually thought about that one too, if I branched at my current point and won the game in every way possible, which would grant me the highest score?

I would guess either:
1) the earliest win, or
2) the one where you have the most population, techs & wonders.

I don't think the point bonuses for the various victory conditions vary that much. Population/techs/wonders (along with real estate) is the basis for your during-game score; this is augmented when you win based on how early in the game it is. Whether there is ANY difference for your method of victory I do not know.

RELOADING! :run:

I guess it could be very educational to try different options, But I'd never do it. No matter what, it wouldn't be the same as you already have knowledge of the game that you wouldn't have known had you made that decision instead.
