Is it wrong to just get every wonder if you can?

If you can, and if the cities you are building them in don't have anything to do, then it is alright of course.

But it is not too easy against a harder cpu and (nearly) impossible in multiplayer, so you have to set priorities.

Depends on what type of game you are playing. OK if you are after the highest score record but totally unnecessary for early landing games, GOTM high scores and OCC.

Ok i was just wondering because in my GOTM im getting like every single Wonder.

Wonders add 20 points each to your final score, but building them may take away production effort from more important things, like research or (in the current GOTM) units to conquer with.

EDIT: fixed number of points.

Building wonders can become a trap. You think your are really kicking the ai's tail, until, all of a sudden, its late in the game, you have all the wonders and only a handful of cities that are under seige!!! Just build the ones you need, and take the others as your empire expands.

Most Wonders have a general effect. The only ones that matter WHERE you build them are Hanging Gardens, Colossus, Copernicus and Newtons, Shakespeare and KingRich. Often you can let the AI do the work of building it, then take it away when you want it (like Pyramids, if you are into them). The only one I try to discourage building is Manhattan Project (if I let the AI get that far...). Just remember not to reduce the city with a wonder to size 1 - it will disappear when you take it, and the wonder will be "lost".

Just for the records: 25 points are added to your score each time barbarian activity increases (starting at -25).
Each wonder gives 20 points.

The coolest way to take the weaker wonders is to capture them

Though the best way to play civ most of the time is to ignore the points score completely and just have fun! :D

I think that the vast majority of wonders are worth having -- so much so that I usually build most of them.

Their relative value changes depending upon your game style & goals -- early conquest increases the value of the Lighthouse for example; One City Challenge stresses the need for Shakes, Copes & Isaac's. Folks who play the Infinite City Sprawl swear by the Hanging Gardens at Deity level.

As for me -- drive the camels home -- those beasts do such a good job! :D

I noticed some civs spread out their wonders and that others build them all in one city. I noticed the Japenese build almost all their wonders in the same city. This is good because you can just take it over then :soldier: What does everyone else do. I tend to spread them out, about 2 per city

I never noticed that. But I usually don't let many wonders out!
I've no regular rule, but I try to build the wonder when it's faster (which means I start some of them in different cities, waiting for the next one...)
