I truly don't know... which is why I am throwing this topic out there.

Keep in mind, when I say multiplayer, I mean at least 3 players and more likely 4 or 5.

I use King a lot .. almost always, for the following reasons.

1) It's the level, which for reasons that I won't go into here, I got used to in Civ 1 & Civ 2 Classic.
2) It gives both newbies & more experienced players a challenge.
3) Barbarians are at 100% & the poor pathetic place-holder AIs do get some advantages from it.
4) Building Mike's & Bach's doesn't guarantee the victory for the builder(s)

If I have a game full of Rookies .. I will do Prince.. to show them how it works.

Yes, king is kind of a default setting for duels and multiplayer. if you look at the statistics page of the ladder, you will see that King will never drop beneath 85% of the games, and so is 2x2x.

an under rated and under used level is Emporer. This is a good level for human civing.
king or lower is a settler fest.Deity is good but maybe makes some wonders a little too strong.I think most that play deity do so mostly for 2 settlers for everyone.
An emperor game with the 3rd highest barb setting and 2 settlers for all would be best but you never see it for some reason

You truly are stupid HIER. You keep digging yourself in deeper and deeper with those ridiculously moronic comments.

Now,now EoN....JB used to keep his second settler once upon a time...

building 1 or 2 roads isnt that stupid at all Eyes, especially in civ2gold when you get roads instantly. its good for the trade, in 1x1x that is.

Irrigating is stupid though. build 1 or 2 roads, then build your second city.

Well see here's the thing Smash...JB can't beat me. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oh, and by the way, I think it might be possible to get all techs by 1000BC on Prince. As it was I was off by about 14 turns. I had Steel and was researching automobile when 1000BC came around and I had about 80 cities I think. SMall map, Prince, 2x2x, Villages only, 1 AI. I think if I start using caravans 6 turns earlier, and get a few turns where I get 3 techs in 1 turn then it really is possible to do it. As it was I was getting 2 techs per turn from about 1800BC on.

Getting back to the question, King or Emporer.
Deity stresses Happiness Wonders to much for my tastes.
BTW, "Duels on small land" are for weak players with limited scope.
JUST an opinion.
Thank you for your time.

Duels are limited, no matter the size.
I'm glad you're expanding though.

With multiple players you have to watch your flanks.
Charging full steam ahead when you find someone won't get it done.

You're an idiot sloww. You disgust me in ways that I can't put it into words. Considering I can hold my own in a 3 on 1 game and probably win them now at this point, I doubt a multiplayer game would do much. 1 on 1 is the true judgement of skill, there aren't other players to change the playing field. You can't rely on someone else as a buffer. What it really comes down to is that you must have time to grow, it shows in every single game you've ever played. I'm not quite sure why I'm even wasting my time responding to you, your skill level is so low it's really quite pathetic. I hate dumb people and especially incompetence, you possess both qualities. And yes, you can "Charge full steam ahead" you moron.

Why don't you just shut up, you prick? You should have noticed that noone really wants to play with you, except for those who seek competition... and I can only repeat, if you behave in real life like you behave on the forums, you're surely the loneliest man on Earth. Yeah, you're one of the most successful players of Civ2 MP, but I don't count you to the best, personally. Because what you do is not playing CIV, you're doing maths and pissing off your opponents... but even with your huge skill of CIV, you'll end up as the nerd you already are... just imagine, folks... a 70-year-old virgin nerd boasting about his CIV skills and still being totally ignored by other people...
Sorry Eyes, but for me, the alternative to AI opponents is a human opponent. You aren't human, though. You're a prick.

Well said, Andz...there is nothing I can really add to that !.... LOL.

Unless I miss my guess Eyes .. what you are using is simply a refined & skilled variation on an old technique called the " Mongol Strategy"..that stesses rapid expansion & war. Very hard to fend off.. & requires that you duplicate it in a one-on-one game. Works best at 2x2.. & better yet on a small map.

What you said about a 4 player game intrigues me tho... would you care to tell us a little more ?... like what the settings & who the other players are?

To my mind.. Civ is mostly a fun game & we kind of miss the point, when we get too competitive about it. Nothing wrong with playing real hard & trying your best to "win" though.. as that makes it exciting for both you & the other players.

In a true multiplayer game, which I define as at least 3 players & better yet 4 or 5 ... the things that matter are skill, strategic savy, & diplomacy. Eyes is no doubt good at the first, might be decent at the second... but it would surprise the hell out of me if he could do anything at all with the all important third one, at least against players who are not asleep at the wheel.

You know absolutely nothing about me dogberry. As for the strategic savy part...well why don't we play and you find out for yourself what you're truly up against.

Alone the fact he doesn't reply to my arguments makes me right.

You're a pathetic little toss, Eyes
