radeon 9800 definately will do it, no problem

but having a computer with
Pentium D @ 3.2GH processor
1GB Ram
250GB total storage
ATI X600 PCL express
is better
Thats more then enough.

a X600 is just awsome :)

Don't know about the video card, I'm not familiar with NVidia. But your RAM is OK and your processor is above recommended, which is 1.8. Minimum is 1. The main thing that's important about the video card is whether it supports Hardware T&L. It also needs at least 32 meg of video RAM, though 64 is recommended.

Willem - thanks very much for your help on this one .... mine has 64mg RAM so it should be fine, and it seems (in reading some specs on it) that it supports hardware T&L.

Just wondering - what does Hardware T&L stand for?

a MX440 can run civ, but Id try upgrading it, nowadays, better ones are pretty cheap

It has 64 MB. No idea about the Hardware T&L. Can't find it on their website.

Ok, as stated before, this is my pc:

P4 2.40 GHz
768 Ram
Dell something

Currently I have the GeForce4 420 video card. What is a good video card for under $100 that I can/should get? I did see the GeForce 4000 for $39 after a $20 rebate. But is that any good and will I wind up having to upgrade again?

I built my own computer specifically to play Battlefield 2 on Ultra High easily (considered the most graphic intensive game on the market) so I think that I'm good.

ROBOPIG go to Start>Programs>Accesories>System Tools>System Information>Components>Display and your graphics card should be there under name.

Is Hardware T&L necessary, or can extra CPU power make up for it?
Whats Hardware T&L?

Sry but the CPU isn't able to handle T&L, you need a graphic card to do that.
But the graphic cards have been able to do that since Geforce 3 I think.
