That's a pretty sad excuse. :mischief:

Baked meat taste good. That's it! I would awnswer that if asked to justify my eating habits.

Sure I'm not comfortable with how animals are treated but what the heck, I personally can't do a damn thing about it. If I stop eating meat It won't stop the gazillions of chickens, cows, porks, fishes ... from their doomed faith.

I'm sure things could be done to change how animals are treated in the industry, but still, they are just meant to be eaten. That's bad, evil, mean, whatever you may call it but that's how we live. I don't think Humans will stop eating meat anytime soon because they have been moved by some veggies ads on TV.

The rape analogy is a bad analogy. For one thing, every time you bring it up, it comes across as though you're equating them, regardless of your intent. You can't make it without sounding as though you're equating them, which erodes your credibility.

We don't rape people because it screws up our social structure. If women can expect to be raped, they aren't going to be so enthusiastic about participating in our society. We need to respect them so that we can work together to survive, because it's a lot easier to survive when we coöperate. We don't have the option of explicitly coöperating with animals. Our social structure isn't threatened by eating meat. It is threatened by raping people. So you're right, that argument "it's natural, so it's right" doesn't stand by itself. It's got context, though. It's natural, and it doesn't harm humans, so we're okay with it. I won't say "it's right", but eating animals is definitely less wrong than raping people in this context.

As someone would say... Bright Day!

...for being the most reasonable person here.

...aneeshm, your intent to prove the naturalistic fallacy (is doesn't mean it ought) is a good and reasonable thing, but your attempt at it is severely lacking, as even the less reasonable people can clearly see.

And it hurts your case as well, I'm sure you can make your argument sounder, (and then I'll feel up to arguing against it!)

C'mon guys, this has got to be one of the most pathetic reasons you can give for anything! Know what, if you recycle most people still wont, so why the frak bother? Yippee, you base yourself on other people and cant do something because its how and who YOU want to be, regardless of others or whether it'll actually make a big difference in the world.
