Is space victory still possible?

Binthuy, how do you preselect a tech? I've seen this mentioned before and never could quite follow.

You can also click one (or a line of) techs and then hold shift and click another. It queues them that way.

Yeah I agree its pretty doable. Just won T258 my first try on Emperor (Immortal player in Vanilla)
Thats still 1700s I think. Could be optimized better than I did for sure. This was a Russia tall game so not even a strong science civ.

A couple of notes for those trying to go this route
1) GS (or other GPs) you purchase with faith do not affect your GPP threshold (Whereas "free" ones from wonders etc do). Micro accordingly, esp when you finish the hubble (Also buying say a GS with faith doesn't increase the cost of the other GPs just the next GS)
2) Research Labs are now (sensibly) on the science win tech path so prioritize them
3) As has been said before getting to 900-1000 bpt is very doable by T220ish or earlier which means a GS is worth 7000-8000 :c5science: or pretty much any tech except the last level
4) Even my best RAs at the end with Rationalism and PT boosts were only netting about 4000 :c5science: so my take is that they may help you shave off a few turns but unless you have like waves of 5+ (which is hard to do) they are kinda ancillary...

EDIT: Forgot to mention that one of the reasons it would be easy to improve on my time is that I can skip the revenge destruction of Siam who pissed me off by stealing too many techs (even though we had a DOF and I told them to stop - lol!)

normal speed right? ive managed to win babylon immortal at turn 508 on epic speed. 1000 bpt but Ra actually helped alot (i was quite diplomatic and peacefull and had 3-4 friends to RA with and nice cash output and RAs deicided the game vs Darius competitor which had x2 cities.

I would have thought Diplomacy would be the easiest. you can avoid nearly every tech on the bottom, war side. But having said that, you would need to probably be Greece to win diplo, 1000 gold gets a mere 35 influence at later stages of the game, and decline at over 1.5 per turn. so having those advantages are paramount.

Science now requires you to hit nearly every tech to achieve victory. I was getting 3500 science and still only finished in 1985.

Standard speed - 3500 is impressive. Sounds like you should do more bulbing though and that would cut down your time

I agree that a Cultural Victory is the hardest and certainly not boring at all. It's the one victory condition that you will likely lose if you pursue it on higher difficulties (unless cooked a good setup and map).

I played a while ago, Hiawatha one city challenge on level up from King. I destroyed a few cities around me, even with the great wall, I struggled to keep America from destroying me. I was playing it really strong, and I think I was just entering my last policy tree when Aztecs won with science victory. They had 42 citizens in the capital.

Having said that a cultural victory with G&K is more about strategy, so I agree with you, it isn't boring, but very challenging. If you had say 3 cities, I'd try to get my spys out there on my nearest neighbour, and also other key players, so I could hand information onto other civs to form alliances, and to bring down the stronger players. I would also want to bring down Siam and Greece if they were in teh game, they are hard to kill off later on in the game. I think the great wall is important, it allows you to focus less on military and more on culture.
