Is there a "no intro video" command line option for C3C?

I know a lot of games have a "-novideo" or "-nointro" or "-nomovie" flag (or something similar) that you can add to the command line of the Windows shortcut for the game. That way, when you run it, the game just loads up the game and skips the movie.

C3C have anything like that?

In Atari --> Civilization III --> Civilization (INI), you can add a line along the lines of "PlayIntro=0". I don't know the exact wording, though.

I just hit the space bar to skip it. Don't know about the coding for it though.

No, you got it right, it is PlayIntro=0

You're a welcome member to Civfanatics if you can't wait 45 secs more for your fav game [pimp]

Just delete the files from your hard disk, its much simpler, has no problems, and frees up some disk space for those valuable mods.

w00t! It works. Thanks. Now C3C only takes 15 seconds to load up instead of 60.
I always banish the movie with a simple click of the mouse. Doesn't that work for you?

When I want to play a game of Civ3, I click on the "Play Conquests!" icon.

At that point, even if I click my mouse as soon as the movie starts, it still takes my computer around 60 seconds to bring up the Main Menu so I can actually start a game of Civ3. This is because the computer has to swap video modes and spin up the CD-ROM and partially load the movie into memory, etc etc.

By adding the "PlayIntro=0" line to my .INI file, it only takes around 15 seconds to go from "Click on Play Conquests! icon" to "Main Menu," because it bypasses all that crap.

15 seconds is better than 60 seconds. Don't you think?

I see. Gotta try that, though it already takes only about 15 - 20 seconds for me. :D

EDIT: I can't seem to find the file to input the command line. Where is it?

If you're just playing Vanilla Civ3, the file is the "civilization3.ini" file in your Civilization III folder.

If you're playing PTW, the file is the "ptw.ini" file in your Civ3PTW folder.

If you're playing Conquests, the file is the "conquests.ini" file in your Conquests folder.

Ok, I get it, thanks! :)
