Long time lurker first time poster here
I only play as tokugawa because im a warmonger and samurai mostly on huge shuffle maps and marathon speed in noble mostly domination wins also my first 2 prince games is domination victory

I always beeline to samurai then wage wars mostly my teching consist of pottery - agri|ah|hunt -mining -bw-myst- writing- math- currency - CoL - CS - Mc - Mach - then what i need like construction for cats or monarchy for HR also i dont like trading or giving techs so i mostly manual research them or buy them

i mostly use caste for the workshop bonus and artist for border pops on newly conquered cities is it inefficient ? Am i missing on slavery?

And is vassaling other civs a bad idea?

I always finding myself still playing in the modern era because of logistic reasons ,am i not waging earlier wars or just bad at fast wars

And curs dont work with me i cant seem to find their strength as i heard in the forum

If you only play Toku on marathon... well, good if you have fun at it, but it is rather one dimensional experience. Maybe try Ghandi since fast worker is way better unit than samurai..

Leaders like Gandhi are actually better warmongers than Toku for us players ;)
With stronger traits (and also the mentioned fast worker) you can do better at empire building & research, getting strong units and can also easier afford conquest.

Toku is considered very weak here.

Not going into detail, i am sure others will thou but:
Slavery = most powerful civic. So yup, you are missing out.

and try playing normal settings...bigger is not always better when it comes to Civ. Normal maps/speed makes for more than a satisfying game.

Focus on learning for now..less on leaders

and yes, slavery is by far the most powerful civic

If you don't like trading techs but your game settings are allowing it, you are shooting yourself in the foot. Ais will trade between themselves and you're stuck with researching everything yourself.
I personally don't like trading techs neither, so I disable it in the custom game settings. It will delay your win dates, but all AIs will be slower as well. I personally prefer those games, because it makes for interesting situations where different AIs beeline different stuff. Especially your own beelines means bigger sacrifices because you cannot catch up as fast on "old" techs.

If you're having fun, there's no need to change anything. However, since you're posting here, I suspect you actually want to improve.

A fixed tech path is rarely a good idea, even if you've nailed a lot of popular and key techs in your list. Instead, you should tech according to what the map throws at you.

Caste isn't a bad civic per se, it's just that Slavery is so much more powerful in most cases. The food to hammer conversion with a Granary is simply so attractive that it even beats working mines in many cases. Late game, Caste+State Property powered workshops can be pretty powerful, though. Caste is also useful during Golden Ages for running a lot of extra specialists during a brief period of time.

And is vassaling other civs a bad idea?

Not at all! Going for a quick vassal can end your wars that much sooner.

And curs dont work with me i cant seem to find their strength as i heard in the forum

Cuirs are probably one of the strongest units in the game due to their placement in the tech tree. They can be beelined and available while the AI is still fielding medieval units. There's not really a good counter until Rifling, which is quite a bit further down the tech tree.

Thanks for the replies

About slavery what tile improvements should i build,if i whip, the city cant grow back fast and there the  and also no commerce if i build farms .maybe link me a thread about slavery so i could read it

Tried playing gandhi on standard/normal/pangaea

My tech tree is a mess but i discovered that elephants are massive beasts they could take cities without cats

What building should i build on the other cities then granary forge courthouse monument or theater right?

Started a new game

Gandhi pangaea/normal/standard/no events/no huts/noble

move warrior NE

should i SIP or 1N? will research agri --> the wheel --> BW

I would go BW after agri, then decide next tech. The gem tile is great so your worker have plenty to do for now. Yes, would settle 1N. Dry rice not that great but more land tiles instead of water tiles. Perhaps 1NE even better. Let the warrior have look.

I don't like 1N either. If you're going to move, I'd move 1NE, but there's a small risk of losing unseen seafood south of your capital.

Very clear SIP for me. Doesn't lose turn, doesn't lose forest, doesn't lose fresh water, doesn't potentially kill seafood. Dry rice not worth all that IMO.

definitely SIP. AG>BW

buildings are situational with exclusion of granary. forges are my next crucial building, but not always needed in certain cities..depends on what you are trying to do. monuments - try to avoid if possible by settling appropriately. theatres - no or extremely situational. Courthouses - once your empire reaches a certain size you might build them in cities farther from your capital - check city maintenance in city screen. Lighthouses, if seafood.

here's a link to a thread i put together on slavery - with more links included:

Put keep in mind that initial your first whips will be out of your capital..at least the first two settlers and a worker or two, possibly granary too...some of this can be helped with chops. Secondary cities can take on the bulk of whipping needs to allow cap to stabilize and run scientists, work cottages.

Decent start here. Gems are really nice for tech boost. A seafood would really make it nice. Corn will be irrigated automatically after teching Civil Service.

settled 1NE
then played for awhile forgot to document

1st to oracle
1st to liberalism
bribe justy to attack Brennus
bribe Fred to attack Giggles
DoW Giggles
Fred peace vassaled me
Giggles Capitulated

now its the part of the game that seem so slow how should i proceed

Your post self-describes you as a warmonger. You really only need two buildings per city. Granary/forge. All other buildings are situational. Remember that the hammers you invest to construct buildings would be better spent making military units to conquer other civs.

bout the building i think its a habit from when i play as toku cuz i need to somewhat up the economy
in most of my game i only have 2-3 military city

the highest hammer city usually the capital will be spewing unit like melee or gunpowder (cuz toku agg/pro) every other turn or so it will get the HE and WP and
the second hammer city will get the IW usually spewing siege units
The 3rd defenders
I somewhat dislike sending low promoted units to battle because if attack the city it only have 2-8 defender those extra lowpromoted units will just eat my gold

I'll be honest, siamurai, you can keep doing what you are doing, but much of what you described and the logic therein is not really good. You can get away with stuff on low levels, but really if you want to learn this game and beat higher difficulties you need to pretty much throw everything you know and think out the window and start fresh. Tabula Rasa.
