Tell me if this is a good laptop:

Sony Intel Centrino

Intel Core Duo T5600
15.4" Screen
2 Gigs Ram
160 Gig HD
CD/DVD Burner
Built in webcam/mic
window's "vista" ready?

Cost is 1449.99 USD, this seems like a pretty sweet deal seeing as how I am leaving the country soon, was also wondering what I would need to look for/buy to get wireless internet? My buddies laptop can connect to the internet if there is a wireless connection (say like...at mcdonalds or something?), but it's built into his computer....

Sorry to bug ya'll but just wondering cuz this is my x-mas present (to myself woo!)

Suggest the computer forum? It doesn't sound bad to me, but I haven't been looking at any computer specs for the last two years, so I'm not up to date on what's current.

Nope, you've been duped, but I'll give you $300 (over twice what it is worth) for it so you can go to wal-mart and buy yourself a respectable machine.

Amazon > Walmart (no tax & often free shipping).

Sounds like a decent machine. I wouldn't pay so much for a computer though, I'd rather get a slightly slower machine with a small hard drive and buy an external one for any additional needs.

Hard drives are dirt cheap anyways, so an extra 100 gigs won't add too much to the final price tag.

Look into what video card it has. If you want it to play games, then it better have a pretty good one. The computer that Narz posted a link to is pretty good looking. But if you post exactly what you want from your Laptop, we can help you out more.

As for the wireless card, most laptops today come with them, if not they'll have a card slot you can buy one for. But I'd be very surprised to see it ship without one. And check out how you'll be using it. I use my laptop at home with a wireless router, so I get internet access all over my house, which is pretty sweet. My campus also provides it free, but other than that there aren't too many places that offer it for free.

Airports often let you buy minutes though, and there's a city somewhere in the US that has a city wide network, which is good stuff on their part.

That was Mulholland. If I posted a link it would probably be to some cheap laptop I found thru my Amazon Store and I'd be warned for advertising. :D

It looks ok, although I prefer AMD. Check the video card, make sure it's not one of those Intel intergrated graphic cards. Also make sure that it has dedicated video RAM, if you want to play games of course.
