In my current game (Large,Fractal,Monarch,Warlords,12 AIS) I'm sharing one continent with Cathy, Roosevelt, Brennus, Hannibal, Alex, Napoleon and that gourgeus female called Isabella. I (HC) declared war on Alex with my Quechua when I see him close at S. (L,R,N ocean), well he coudn't settle his second city. .
Lets go to the point I'm researching Military Tradition, I'm Buddhist with Isabella and Rosevelt (The others are Hindus). I declared war on Cathy and Hannibal his vassal(S of me now) before her cossacks arrived because she was first in score and me second and cant wait more. I razed 3 of her cities, mantaining 3 and was trying to make peace because WW is killing me. Well everything looks good I'm first in score and I kick Cathy a major problem in my continent ..... but the bells rings someone else declare war on me before I could make piece with her:
It wasn't Brennus that was annoyed with me and Cathy's friend
It wasn't Napoleon " " " " "
It was her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with a +14 friendly because I am buddhist, I am running Theocracy since I discover Theology, Open borderg, Give gifts to her,etc etc etc
I have a very strange feeling about her... how can she do that to me?? She didn't Vassalise cathy, she hate her.
Anyone has experience with this behaviour?? She refused to talk to me with a smile on her face and a +11 modifier pleased

Off topic) In a game that i lost last week same settings (not aggresive Ai neither) Monty declared war on me and launched 4 nukes in the same turn:mad: 2 turns before that I finished SDI. I quit

Hmm, shouldn't happen but I guess the diplomacy is all about numbers and chances, so this was very unlikely but not impossible.
Was her military stronger than yours ? Did you have weakly defended border cities. The AI can be very opportunistic on Monarch and above.

No the power graph looks good, her graph is slightly better Im third and augustus(first) in the other continent (Catholic) is building a huge army to attack me :D, I can crush her if I want but I'm falling behind on tech because I don't have friends (because they betrayed me) and WW is insane.
The most strange thing is that she has Brennus next to her who is Hindu and she goes to the other side of the continent to make a D-Day invasion that consists of a Frigate and Galleon with 2 LONGBOWMANS and a Treb lol near a city with 2 grenadiers city garrison 2.

Well I don't know what to expect perhaps the next war is with Roosevelt With a + 12 Friendly :D

I had the same problem 2 days ago. she was +14, and on my southern border. i was cathy on noble with bunch of cossacks (over 30), inf, cannons etc. #3 on power graph, right behind her. we shared religion. and fought several wars together. i also, had her start a couple of wars, just by asking her. then, i decided to preemp musa, who is way negative with me and had 2 cities on my northern border, on my continent, while his mainland was across the sea. she backstabs me by attacking me in the south. btw, i checked before declaring, she hated musa too. in fact everyone did. that was the last time i decided to trust izzy and groom her as my ally. some ppl never change. so i suggest taking her out asap. and no, musa wasnt izzy's vassal.
i could have handled both of them, i decided to quit, because this would have been a prolonged war, even though her units were a step behind mine - rifles and conquists.

Isabella is the most crazy b*tch ever. She backstabs like nothing. Only Monty, Cathy and Jules can do the same. Religion and happy relations mean nothing. What a total woman.

Oh sigh, for the the last time, I'll restate THE RULES.

If Isabella exists in your game, anywhere, she must always be completely and utterly distroyed without mercy asap. It's in THE RULES :mischief:

Look at her.... There'll be a crapload of conquistadors and trebs at your door in... 3 turns? 4 at most.

Wow a whopping +24! I have never seen that and never have I ever had a relationship with a country that high. Nice job! Maybe that is what it takes for a true ally you can trust.

How did she become your vassal? The "You declared war on us"/"You razed one of our cities" modifiers last for at LEAST 1000 years...I think.

I've had +23 with Isabella (without vassalling). She was very amiable and would give me anything I would ask for.

Perhaps she declared war on him...

As hard as it may be to imagine, peaceful vassalage can and does happen (some are probably like "WTH peaceful vassalage exists???")

This is how it happened.

Playing Oasis, I'm south and Izzy is north and we share a river, the moment Buddhism (yeah yeah she always founds it) spreads to me I convert to it. No-one else in the world switches to Buddhism.

Alexander, Izzy's neighbor, gets all fired up, puts on his stomping sandals and takes a bazillion chariots, phalanxes and assorted other units and gleefully tramples rough-shod all over poor Izzy, taking her capital and leaving her with just one city, then making peace. Because Alexander was now in possession of the Buddhist holy city (and because of his raging jealousy about Isabella having me all to herself) he immediately switches to Buddhism, this puts him on relatively good terms with Izzy so he looks elsewhere for new targets.

Isabella plays the rest of the game out as OCC, since all the city sites had been taken. The armies grow progressively more massive and she watches as the forces of Tokugawa (me), Alexander, Genghis Khan and Shaka grow progressively more massive and in short order Washington and Wangkon are erased from the map by these raging war machines. Actually there was a Cyrus in the middle too but he wisely stayed out of the wars, content to throw his arms up in the air and cry "WTH guys? WTH? stop killing each other!?"

So Isabella has a single city and is surrounded by psychotic thugs progressively erasing the weak civs from the map. Although Alexander was a good little Buddhist she still remembered the gleeful spain-sandal-stomp from before he found the faith and it still smarted. Thus she looked to the one good civ on the map, Buddhist Japan and begged for protection. The funny thing was she did this in the middle of a world war so had to immediately declare war on Genghis and Shaka.

Heh, nice lesson to that ***** :P

Wow, have I become so bloodthirsty that I can't remember an AI declaring war? I really need to stop killing people. That can't be good for Ragnar's karma...
