It Should Be A Wonder!

Sure, it was short lived and China would hate it, but still! It did have a pretty big impact late in the Tiananmen Square protests. I was merely throwing around things I knew in my head and I just read about the statue this morning, so it was fresh on my mind!

As much as that would be great, China wouldn't allow it  And China's a big, big market for the civ series. BTW, I love your list :D

With its young age, Ryugyong Hotel would probably not be included anytime soon. However, it would be a great addition in a future installment of the civilization series.
Spoiler :

I support the World Trade Center, not because the buildings were American skyscrapers, but because of what they represent: world trade. The fact that they were destroyed by terrorists just kind of adds to it for me, too.

Other wonder-worthy places:
Erdene Zuu Monastery: probably the oldest in Mongolia and very significant
Delta Works: the Dutch now have a more efficient coastline
Aurora Borealis: beautiful and makes for an arctic natural wonder that makes sense

Channel Tunnel - how about (and I could get this wrong if I've misunderstood the concept) for in Brave New World Speak, all land-based trade routes earn as much money as sea-based trade routes?

That looks like a Supervillians lair!

I'm not sure if that would be OP, but since the Channel Tunnel would come so late, I bet it wouldn't really matter.

I agree with:

Great Zimbabwe. Perhaps something to do with pastures or a trade mechanic since Great Zimbabwe was one of the bigger players in the African gold trade when it was around.

Hollywood. Able to turn production into culture. Movies were once the 8th biggest industry in the US.

World Wonders I would suggest:

The Crystal Palace
The Smithsonian
Karnak
Golden Pavilion
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Okay, the last one is a joke but if people are nominating the Chunnel....

Natural Wonders:

Geysir
Waikiki
Matterhorn
Everglades
Hoh Rainforest

Using this map of wonders.

It's clear there needs to be more wonders from the Americas, Africa, Middle East, and Asia. In other words, anywhere that isn't Europe.

You need to consider spread over the timeline (i.e. tech tree) as well as geographical spread. For example, your suggestion would cause a complete overload of ancient wonders. (A part of the tech tree that is already very wonder heavy.) This is why you do not see the sphinx and the pyramids in the game.

This naturally leads to Europe having more wonders than other regions, because in the History of our world it is the only region that was relevant in ALL eras. For example, the America's have no history in (most of) the Medieval and Renaissance eras, since the native civilizations where more or less in the classical era when the European colonizers came, which where in the late renaissance. The Industrial era, is an episode in the development of the world that basically happened in Europe (and partly the US) alone. The only era's for which relevant wonders across most of the world can be found are probably the Ancient, Classical and Information era.

I play with every wonder mod I deem sufficiently interesting and balanced on, so I'm okay with absurd numbers of wonders.

I kind of like how the Ancient era has so many wonders: it makes a decision to try to grab one or two or do other things to kickstart the empire.

I want the Black Forest as sort of a half mythical, but completely real natural wonder. It could be a darker patch of woods with a fairy-tale castle in it, and give bonuses to culture.

I do think the Hoover Dam or Three Gorges or both should be in game, because of the huge achievement it was to the US and China Respectively, although they should both do different things IMO

Ha Long Bay, Kilimanjaro, Namtso, Lorelei, Galapagos Islands, Kilauea, the Aurora... were my first thoughts and I wonder why there are no waterfalls, like Angel Falls, Victoria Falls or the Iguazu Falls

ha, I guess they thought the mythical Fountain of Youth would suffice

It would be cool to have a mod that gives natural "islandy" wonders as single or double tiles, exclusive to archipelago maps:

-Galapagos
-Krakatau
-Great Barrier Reef
-Komodo + Rinca Islands

What are some other island-like natural wonders?

We need more Asian, African, American and modern wonders and also less European
-Potala Palace
-Shwedagon Pagoda
-Great Zimbabwe
-Templo Mayor
-Cheomseongdae
-Persopolis
-Burj Khalifa
-Mount Rushmore

The Pantheon would be nice:

And this stupa, Jetavanaramaya, that I think is fairly impressive:

Long time reader/Civ gamer = first time poster (made an account just to reply to this thread, hehe).

Majority of the Natural Wonders in the game are impassable (mountains) or way off your territorial sprawl (Great Barrier Reef).

Instantly research Archaeology provided you have unlocked the necessary technologies
+1 :move: to all Archaeologist units
Constructing Archaeological Digs takes only two turns instead of three

Flavian Amphitheater https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colosseum

MEDIEVAL ERA (Requires Theology)

Panama Canal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Canal
INDUSTRIAL ERA (Requires Dynamite)

+15% :c5gold: from naval :c5trade: routes
All Maritime :c5citystate: will give a one-time gift of 50 :c5gold: (as Enemy or Neutral) 100 :c5gold: (Friends); 150 :c5gold: (Allies)

Hollywood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood
MODERN ERA (Requires Electronics or.. I guess Radio)
Can spawn up to three Great Celebrities
A great celebrity has three uses:
- Start a Cinematic Golden Age, which is a shorter golden age, but adds the boosts in :c5culture: and tourism (Concert Tour and Great Treatise)
- Create the Walk of Fame (permanent Tile Improvement/only one can exist) which adds :c5culture:, :c5happy:, and tourism
- Establish a Celebrity Charity Foundation (unique building) which increases :c5gold:, :c5food:, and Public Opinion towards your ideology

World Trade Center https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_trade_center
ATOMIC ERA (Requires Computers)
After building this wonder, should you lose any of your cities, all existing units immediately gain a +30% bonus :c5strength: and +1 :move: for 20 turns.
All player-controlled cities gain +25% :c5unhappy:.
Any :c5puppet: and :c5occupied: city will generate +100% additional :c5unhappy: for these turns, and another 20 turns thereafter.

*NOTE: I'm thinking of a man-made wonder which, given its history, has been lost/destroyed, and has caused wars.
The only thing I could think of at this moment are the Twin Towers -> 9/11 -> Afghanistan/Iraq.
American military steamrolled its opponents, yet it caused resentment at home, and insurgency in occupied territories.
- So basically this is a purely "shock-and-awe" type of effect. Destroy armies, but you should avoid taking over territory.

Burj Khalifa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_khalifa
INFORMATION ERA (Requires Globalization... or... Telecommunications, or that new tech in BNW, Internet)
+25 :c5gold:
+10 :c5gold: for each percentage of tourism that exceeds the :c5culture: of another Civilization

I'm still thinking of a few ideas hehe :)
