Jamie's Rome Mod

Thanks and I don't really like the reskinned leaderheads much... :(

1.2 is being launched today! 1.2 consists of the Brython, Gallic, Germanic, Pictish civs have had most of their units reskined and there are 2 new civs the Iberian Tribes and the Greek Colonies. These new civs are both barbarian style and so cannot be played and the Iberian Tribes have their own set of unit skins...

Segestica has been changed to Salona.

The following cities have been reallocated:
Syracuse - Greek Colonies
Apollinia - Greek Colonies
Salona - Greek Colonies
Kydonia - Greek Colonies
Rhodes - Greek Colonies
Halicarnassus - Greek Colonies
Nova Carthago - The Iberian Tribes
Salamis - Greek Colonies

there are 3 new cites in spain...

Due to some unforseen error the Greek Colonies and the Iberian Tribes' flags are single coloured in their secondary colour

The previous bug has been fixed and I am uploading 1.2 again with more unit skins. The Greek and the Carthagians have now got their own art style....

when you have downloaded 1.2 if you have the previous version delete it first before you extract!!

Jamie

Sorry jamie i dont really play civ anymore since Starcrft 2 came out and i am going back to school in a week where i will not be able to play anyways. Sorry, mod looks cool though:goodjob:

Looks good, but some points:

- Do more reading and research about the time frame. There are a lot of mistakes that should not have been made in the first place
- Put Massalia in it's place and as it's own civ, and give it Emporiae (north of Carthago Novo) and Nicaea in modern-day Nice
- Fix Antium. Either by putting it in it's place, or naming it Canusium.
- What are the leaders?
- Thebes-Alexandria Memphis-Gaza
- Make the surroundings of the Nile flood plains
- Way less seafood
- Barbarians are bad choices. Make them minor civs or something.
- Add Seleucia and Parthia.
- Make only one source of ivory in Africa.
- Make Rome and Carthage bigger.
- Add Macedon.
- Rename the current Massalia to Burdigala.
- Utica should be called Motya.
- Give Carthago Novo to Carthage.

I would give it to carthage but playable civs only get 2 cities each (and in 1.2 it belongs to the Iberians anyway)... in 1.2 most of the barb cities are owned by either the Iberians or the Greek Colonies and in 2.0 there are the Selucids and the Parthians...

as I said only 2 starting cities per playable civ so it is nice and balanced...

yer well hopefully in 1.3 this will show more with the new unique civ powers... Rome will have 10% less maintenance and carthage's ships will be faster than all of the other ships...

I have new and exciting (well for me anyway) news! 1.3 Alpha is underway and will be centered on new features and (still) new artwork! It should be introducing a new calander (hopefully), Quintrirmes WILL have a 30% chance to comandeer (take over) defeated ships and hopefully a feature that will bring terror to a certain empire around mid point in the game... (Providing certain requirements are met land wise...) there should be Ethic Great Generals created by me :D (with extensive help from SabiotLeigh, Thanks SO much!) 2 new Leaderhead Artworks and hopefully the buttons will be more shiny (the ones that were redone by me have no light effect on them)

A possibility will be new features that include an option for units to make catapults in forests (like a worker option) that will take 5 turns and civ specific abilities (have to find somebody to do these for me first)

AND 1.3 FINAL (which could be the FINAL version of the version 1 series...:() will hopefully have the catapult and civ ability features in it by then as well as an option that is very much related to the feature in 1.3 Alpha with the terror of an empire.... And HOPEFULLY (this applies to both versions) new religions! the new religions will be Celtic, Greek, Roman and POSSIBLY (this is if I can even do the religions) Germanic and Carthigian religions but after 5 failed attempts at religions I am going to have to find somebody first and if this doesn't happen for 1.3 there will be a 1.4 to finish off....

AND!!! When all of this is done (with maybe a little more added in) I will be taking a small break :whew: and then dealing with both the version 2 series and the expansion pack... Jamie's Fall of Rome mod which will feature a slightly changed map and new civs, artwork, units and a horde start (not using python for the moment but maybe making a military civic option and the hordic (available with the Horde tech which will only be available to the huns etc) option will give 100 free units...) etc...

:love::thanx::trophy::w00t:
Special Thanks to: SabiotLieh, The J, The Lopez, asioasioasio (who will be providing me with the means to make those shiny buttons...), Baldyr, Mechaerik (for his War Prizes modcomp), pie_at for helping me find the next two people on the list, Bakuel and Modfreak (for unit artwork), The Capo (for his Clovis leader head and for posting PencilGod's Mark Antony leaderhead) and of course the intire CivFanaticsForum for their support!!!
:love::thanx::trophy::w00t:

update on 1.3... Artwork nerarly finished and something that has made me very happy... Religions have finaly been implemented into the mod which will feature new senarios: the original 1.2 senario, The 1.3 religions senario (which will have the Roman, Greek and Celtic religions), no cristianity 1.3 (Roman,Greek,Judaism and Celtic religions will be present but cristianity can be founded in the late game!), Possibly a senario with no religions aswell which allows you to found any of the 5 religions present in the mod...

I still have to do my share of the artwork with the Greek, Eygptian, Carthagian and Celtic Great Generals (I have finished the roman one!)

Due to a little problem with the 'event that will bring doom' not behaving as it should, the feature may not be released until 1.3 FINAL or a 1.4 if nessicary...

Eygpt has been reskinned fully now and clovis has his own special leaderhead :D, I am also planning to have a version which will allow play as the Iberian Tribes...

erm, a random question but why arent Dacians and the Huns in this mod ? i thought is about Rome ?

dacians - was thinking about adding them as a barb style civ like the iberians but I used most of the names from that region for germania so it would have been way to hard to find cities for them and the huns will be present in the fall of rome expansion... I sort of based this around the rise of rome not the fall of it. :D

UPDATE: The civ specific abilities are well on their way with 5/8 of them completed

the forest ability not started
Great generals completed
New concepts page on civilopedia completed

I am also planning a medieval mod!

unfortunatly no but it will follow one perticular event in late game but still can't give any spoilers...

what ever one you want... they are all bts only compatible and I have the same versions as you... 1.2 is the most up to date
