Japan Type97 Tank

The model has 4522 polys, and it's definitely the one from Battlefield 1942 (and subsiquently Forgotten Hope). I don't know what the ramifications are, but I wouldn't recommend someone use a model with that many polys.

So far as I know that number of polys is correct. He says he changed the # of polys, but he doesn't say WHEN. If it was after his initial post, then the number could be lower.

not quite - polygon could be triangle, square, five-angle object.... (when used in 3dsmax editable poly method -)

using editable mesh in 3dsmax - wich i prefere makes every polygon = triangle if i remeber well.

and triangle is three-tangles objects

hovewer for game you need to look on number of triangles (and used method of exporting) - for game doesn't matter how much polygons is used - the most important is number of triangles - and the best place is to check this in nifviewer.

How much triangles there are then usually and how can i get this number lower, i really like to use this unit.

if you know how to model (and uvw unwrap) in max i would start from changing caterpillar track - this wheel cylinders could be replaced by plane with painted wheels in texture - but you need have the "how to" knowledge and of course time.

easier would be to try the method suggested by chugginator and deleted unseen polygons - but it would be hard to drop with this number (in version 2 theres more than 3000 triangles and to drop below 2 000 or 1000 would need bigger changes in model)

This is a much needed unit. Look forward to seeing more WWII Japanese units. Also hope to see some German and Italian units from BF1942: FH cross over to Civ IV. They have some very interesting tools. Any way to give mobility bonuses on something like snow and then take it away on normal land... Perhaps then it might be good to have a snow mobile to use...

Don't expect that. Material present in Forgotten Hope cannot be used outside of their mod. I don't know about the rest of the forum, but I honor their wishes and would hope everyone here would to.

Wow... now I gotta get this in my game too!
