My most recent favorite game. I don't like the single player game, finding the normal difficulty to be a little more difficult that I would expect (there are 4 levels of difficulty with normal being the 2nd easiest), but I love the multiplayer aspect of the game. There are many different types of game you can play on ranging from Light Saber only fights (You can only use your light saber weapons, no guns) to Free For Alls(FFA - basically Deathmatches), Capture the Flag (CTF), Capture the Ysalamiri (where when you have the Flag/Ysalamiri you cannot use force powers), and more.

The game runs well on my computer (Duron 750, 512Megs of SDRAM, 32Meg Matrox G400) with the resolution set to 800x600 with High and Very High Details set. It ran reasonably well at 1024x768 but I found 800x600 better. The resolution is set at 16 bit. So it runs on a decent system. I am sure it runs sweet on a bad ass system if it runs this good on mine.

The game crashes a lot but that could have to do with the version of it that I got. I got the GK special, but I plan on buying it soon and then I will tell you if the retail version crashes as bad. I unOCed my system but that doesn't seem to help very much (but my system doesn't crash on its own anymore:))

I have a GK special and it works fine for me...And you really have to play the single player game more. Its the best part of the game really...We will have to play it multiplayer some time although there is the problem that it will not allow either of us to minimise the game whilst its running and it doesn't support chat channels...

What level are you on in the single player game? If you are stuck on a puzzle then I may be able to help you. Also when you take on stormtroopers you should try and take them on one at a time rather then in a large group...

Level 1, after the first auto save....after blowing the door open. I am normally pretty good at FPS but I am having a hell of a time with the damn blaster. Running out of ammo. I just got the cheat codes so I think I might make it. :) BTW, I am only on normal difficulty!

So you go down the lift. You get off the lift wait for it to start rising again. Then open then door, jump down to below the lift and there will be a grate to walk through. Let Jan kill all the stormies whilst you deactivite the lightning machine by pressing the panel...You can then drop down into a room and kill a guard...

I have heard from a M&M fan that M&M IX is only ok. The only reason he is still playing it is b/c it is M&M.

And I finally got past the first level. Maybe I was just having a bad day...not sure. I have figured out that I do NOT want to use the alternate fire on the auto blaster very often as it taks up 2 things of power (why?) and it shoots them out very rapidly and all over the place. No wonder the stormtroopers can't hit anything...neither could I!!! I have also found it is good to hit them in the head and the little hand blaster you start out with is good b/c you can charge is up and it will shoot out a really damaging shot that will throw the enemy back. It is a lot of fun to see them get shoved back 10 feet! Shooting in the head is good also as it is normally one shot, one kill.

The JK games like two fire modes for each weapon. I think the secondary fire must have a faster fire rate so that if you fought about 5 stormtroopers close together then you could kill them all. By now you should be at least on level 3...

Stuck on level 2 after the freezing room. I figured out I had to jump into it and climb across and got to the next area but then I get stuck in the next part. I hate having to figure out obscure puzzles...I'd go play Myst! (shudder) I am past that point and I cannot figure out where to go from there. :( SP in this game is starting to frustrate me.

Freezing room pointers...

First of all you jump in, go through the door press the switch and then go out the other door.

Then go back to the now cold room and walk around the edge instead of falling into it. There is a weird shape that you jump on and then into a vent.

You come out on the catwalk and there is a secret area that you just have to jump across to. There should then be a door along the catwalk that you can go through.

Yeah, I got past that part...it is the part after that, where the electrocuting water is that I am having a problem. That room and the wide open room with the ledges that have items on them. I should take a screen shot and show you.

I think I know where you mean...but I cannot remember the order that you are supposed to go through...A picture would be helpful though. If you are in the place that I think you are then you just hae to go through each door that is open in turn until you have been through all of them. There is a control panel in a room that you can break from outside it, I think...

Yeah, stupid control panel. I had to shoot the canister beside it to blow the canister up to damage the control panel to pen a door. WhoTF thinks of these levels? It is ssssooooo Doom.

Raven made the game...Its very puzzle orientated although there are a few later missions where all you have to do is kill all the enemies, without doing any puzzles...

Fromt he reviews I have read...I agree: They should have incorporated more force powers into the puzzles. I don't have any force powers yet but it would have been nice to have grabbed a key to get passed that part instead of blowing up somethign that I didn't know I needed to....which I found by randomly shooting.

You may not be saying that when you have to go thorugh several force powers to get your lightsaber...It can be very annoying, especially the part where you have to get the lightsaber because the way you should be able to do it does not always work...

For what it is worth at this late date, hang in there till you get your lightsaber. I don't even know why they put in levels where you aren't a jedi. Once you have the force, the game is cool as hell. After a few force advancements, I almost never put the lightsaber down.

Also for fun get the cheat codes that give you the force powers and allow you to spawn in saber wielding enemies to fight.

"Shift" "~" Then "devmapall"

Now you can enter the codes you want.

Give all

setforceall X Where X is a number 1-3 for force levels. (You can go higher if you want, and get a cool effect with mind trick.)

npc spawn "reborn" Put any enemy you want in place of reborn.

put "bind" [key] in front of a command and you can use it as a hot key.

Dueling 5-6 reborns at once can be fun.

Its for the story line that you don't have your lightsaber as Kyle has abandoned the force...The stupid thing is that the first level that you can use your lightsaber, you never really have any opportunities to use it effectively.

I have given up on the game. It just didn't have enough to keep me entertain....what is it with games nowadays? or is it just me?

I think its probably the game. The puzzles tend to be more annoying than fun and it just makes the game feel unsatisfying.

I know it is for the story, but I just wish they would have come up with a different story that let me use it all the way through. I dealt with that whole build-up thing in JK1, I didn't want to do it again. I guess part of it is that I am not really a FPS fan. Before you get the lightsaber, the game is just another FPS, and that is not enough to satisfy me.
