Turn 0 - Took a look around, nothing changed.
Turn 1 - Researched Constitution, start Replaceable Parts. Switched to Representation.
Turn 2 - :sleep:
Turn 3 - Our navy starts heading towards GW with the frigates guarding them.
Turn 4 - :sleep:
Turn 5 - :coffee:
Turn 6 - Our nave reached Chicago. I plan on taking GW from the tip of the island.
Turn 7 - Declared on GW, landed our troops next to Chicago it should be easy only defended by 2 rifles and a longbow.
Turn 8 - Researched RP, starts Rifling for riflemen. Bombed Chicago to lower it's defenses.
Turn 9 - Bombed Chicago once more.
Turn 10 - Suicided 2 pults, then attack. Captured and razed Chicago, only loosing 1 granadier with 67.1% odds in our favor :sad:

Our navy is back to pick up some troops. It's up to the next player whether he wants to split our army in 2 and attack from both ends, or to stack them up and continue. Saladin will not war against GW since he consider him a "friend".

We loose a frigate, frigate heading from Kobeyashi Maru. Saladin wants to trade refuse. Change to build frigate in Cherokee. Two US frigates at Cherokee move frigate into Cherokee. Frigate from KM enroute and building one.

T3

Satsuma finishes gren start cavalry. Kagoshima finishes Cat start another. Take out wounded US frigate Out of range from the other frigates. Still 2 US frigates at Cherokee pinning down galleons. Gw has 2 rifles and settler heading back for razed city.

We discover rifling start steel for cannons. We are experiencing WW in some cities move culture slider to 10%. Rendaku finishes Bank start Coliseum for happy.
Izumo finishes library start forge. Marubeni unhappy switch to theater only 3 turns.
US frigate pursues our wounded frigate move him out of harms way.

Saladin asks for OB refuse. Brass Lions starts rifle starving has 2 scientist remove one for food. Troops arrive at Philly GW start another city in razed site. Whip frigate in Bayview, US frigates still pursuing our wounded frigate. Whip frigate in Cherokee to accompany galleons whilst other frigates play catnmouse.

Cat attacks troops in Philly and looses
GW is the most advanced. We are in the industrial era now. We finish steel and start democracy for emancipation. Bayview finishes frigate start another. US frigate turn back after galleons so move back to Cherokee until other frigates arrive.

US frigates head back towards oncoming frigates from the west. Ok 3 of our frigates in range of US frigates but they promoted we’re not. We got galleons out under escort of 1 frigate going to Philly as we need cats there.

T8

Nara finishes frigate start another. Nagasaki pops a scientist leave it for the next guy, will give us Sci Meth which I don’t think is worth it and we should ad as Super Specialist. Our wounded frigate is now healed and promoted. Worker stuff.
Galleons will unload troops at Philly next turn.

Turn 9

GW ask for PT refuse. Osaka finishes rifle start cannon. 3 frigates near Cherokee now to
Deal with US frigates.

Turn 10

KM finishes another frigate start cannon. Kyoto finishes bank start observatory. Izumo finishes forge start cannon. US frigates heading for our galleons and single frigate on more nearby to escort.

We capture Philly and raze it. (could not have done it without the cats as there was only one cat in the original stack)
We should split these forces up and have one head for Washington and the other for Boston since that is the moneymaker as pointed out by Armstrong.
Democracy due in two turns and emancipation is hurting us since GW has democracy.

Nice going chaps. I believe I'm up so consider this a "got it". I finishing (hopefully) ChrTh's Academians tonight, but will get to this tomorrow.

The war looks like it's going well, and if armstrong is correct in his assumption that most of his GDP is coming from coastal cities, maybe concentrating on them is a good idea. Still, I'll see how I get on.
 
OK, I've tried playing this 4 times now and everytime it crashes when I click the button after turn 2. I don't know if the save is corrupt, but can I get a swap with someone, to see if they get the same symptoms?

Talamane is up after me, so would you mind swapping to test the save?

I will try it too to see if something happened on my machine. I also could try to upload another perhaps something got lost in the upload.


EDIT: I tried to play it ahead on my machine (4 turns) and nothing happened. The save is probably corrupt from the upload. So here's another zipped one:
 
I was able to play three turns, no crash. Though, I don't know what you're doing on your turns. I mostly pressed, "F" ;)

One thing I noticed when I looked at the save, we need to pillage washington's improvements!... he's already resettled one of his cities, and since it wasn't pillaged it barely slowed him down... we can have the cavs pillage while the slower forces move to the fight :)

Plus, those cottages are worth good money... George has thousands of gold for the looting :yeah:.

Also, I think we should hit Boston + Washington asap... we have a large number of galleons still around that could ferry the main stack to one of the hills by Boston or Washington. Raze/pillage those two cities and he's going to be really hurting.
 
@Armstrong...

You're right but when I played I was playing cat n mouse with those darn frigates (three of them) and we only had one and lost it. Towards the end of my turnset I finally got the additional troops over there so we have a huge contingency there. We now have superior numbers of frigates so we can now ferry more over. We should split our forces but you're right send some good cavalry (gunpowder promotion) to the newly founded city (probably only garrisoned by one or two rifles) and raze it again.

We should also think about getting a settler over there so we can move our troops into a city of our own and upgrade some of those Samurai. Those guys are awesome in promotions and will be deadly as Rifles/Grens.

There is even enough troops over there to split up in three although we are a little light on cats. (but probably enough)

Maybe we should bring science down to 0% for a few turns and use the loot to upgrade our Samurai.
 
OK...download the save again and have another go after work. During the two turns I managed to play, I did pretty much what armstrong said. I noticed the resettled town, sent some Cavalry over and a couple of Samurai (just as well as there was a Pikeman there), and started pillaging and razed it.

I also destroyed a couple of frigates at the cost of one of our own, and a Settler was built...I was going to send him to northern America to set a home base for upgrades.

I was also beelining to Washington for my next target...it's heavily defended, but should be able to severely cripple it, maybe raze it. I also started on a lot of Cannon builds, and our main fleet of Galley's was bringing over another stack.

Hopefully a turn report tonight!
 
I'm still having no joy. I'm not having problems with any other games so I don't know what's going on.

Could you grab the save Talamane and play your 10, and I'll try again from your save?

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall tonight (along with Warlords if it arrives :D), but if you could play that would be cool.

It sounds like the sort of "symptom" you get when you're using a virtual cd program or something, but I don't use them so... :confused:
 
Time is tight with RL in my face. Sheesh, i really dispise these abbreviated posts.

The city of Washington is no more. Cost was reasonable, 3 cats, and a few sams. GW has arty now, but the one i have seen is no longer.

Our highest production city is building the SoL. Even if we dont get it, we should get a sizeable amount of gold as a consolation.

Razed Baltimore and founded Matsuyama as a toehold on GW's continent. It's too far away to be very useful as an upgrade city, but oh well, it has rice, pre-built towns, etc.

We had a great geek born in Nagasaki, i sent him to Sapporo and built an academy.

It's 1850 and we are just getting steam power--the world is no smarter than the 3 stooges. Just as well. No one is going to launch at this rate before 2050AD. Works for me. :)

Pillaging GW back to the stone age and it's making us a bundle. Culture is up to 20% to combat WW. We have revolted to free speech and emancipation. We are still in representation.

Nice work Talamane. Yep we only got 200 years left so it's going to be tough and will have to warmonger constantly from now on. I do not see a space victory in the cards unless we stop warmongering and go nuts with science. We could tweak our cities (which are very good by the way) and maybe think about that route. Saladin/Monty/HC are in no position to beat us in Space Race. GW needs to be finished though so good work on Washington/Baltimore.

I thought about that problem with the save. My CD player is not always reacting when I start the game so sometimes have to try start a second time. I don't know if that's a factor but this is a first and Talamane didn't have a problem. Hopefully you can play from his save.
 
Okay, this is a got it :)

I took a look at the save. I think space is a realistic goal, except with the caveat that we're going to be forced into wars as order two colonies on Washington/Saladin's island and Monty/HC's island come into contact with enemies. Right now, even with our happy problems and being the aggressor, our GDP is almost caught up with Washington's. His cities have few defenders.

200 turns is a long time, enough for either type of win, but we should decide so we can focus towards that goal.
 
Oh I agree we can do it Armstrong but will need to focus mostly on space techs to get things moving. 200 years but not 200 turns right?? How many years go by per turn right now. I forget what speed we are playing on.
 
Oh, I'm so used to following Talamane I forgot he and JesusOnEez swapped. :crazyeye: Consider this an "un-got it" :)

We're down to 195 turns exactly, each turn is now 1 year.

At our current pace, it'd take ~250 turns to research the techs. However, our economy will greatly increase - we're running 20% culture due to WW. Moreover, we have lots of cottages that have yet to mature, and we could build more, too. Plus, we have lots of infrastructure that hasn't come in yet that will speed things up... only Washington would be a threat to beat us, and we have him on the ropes.

If we do go for the conquest route, we'll want to get Communism -> Fascism soon after Assembly Line - not being able to trade for happiness resources makes WW much worse. Then Combustion & Industrialism, and we can overrun the AI's one at a time with Tanks & Infantry.
 
Yep once we get to tanks they should do well against rifles and that's what we'd probably be up against with Saladin/Monty/HC. We should try and finish Washington off completely and ascertain at what point is the quickest win Space Race/Conquest. If we can get to tanks fast and get "police state" as well as build Mt. Rushmore conquest may be quicker. (what's that got to do with facism anyways??? Firaxis I don't get it). We might want to catch one of those wonders like "broadway" to help with the happiness. We have lots of cities so we pretty much can focus on military/science/happiness all in a nutshell.

I hope Jesusoneez doesn't have problems with save.
