Many of the terrorist organizations have loosely joined together under the banner of the "Global Liberation Army", or GLA. The GLA is commencing numerous attacks on US & UN peacekeeping forces with a fair amount of success, as well as engaging in the wholesale slaughter of Chinese civilians.

These insurgents must be dealt with to preserve the interests of the United States of America."


As the USA's new Joint Strike Squad, can you end the war on terror?

Hello all! I am Nukeknockout, and this is my first hosted AC. I will attempt to do my level best.

Overall Rules:
1)- You're all US Soldiers. This means you are subject to the rules US Soldiers go by in this universe. Anger your superiors enough and you may be courts-martialed, arrested, or outright executed. Get away with angering your superiors to this extent and your character will become an NPC.
2)- All rolls will be resolved with a d20. "Opposed rolls" will be avoided under most circumstances.
3)- Treat each other nicely when you're out of character.
4)- Standard GM rules apply. Namely, that if I rule on something, that's how it is.
5)- I reserve the right to rule on anything pertaining to the game, including but not limited to the rules.

To play, choose a class, make up a name, a bio, and we'll go from there. Talk to me if your character has a skill which is not represented.

Stuff:

Class is what type of equipment the USA issues your character. That's the best way to think of it.

Weapons are vitally important to your function in the game as soldiers. The only common point between all of them is that they are designed to kill people. Other than that, they vary in their strengths and weaknesses.

Equipment is the collection of secondary gear you have access to. These range from armor to goggles to all kinds of things.

Call-ins are support you can bring in to aid you in your mission. These are easily the defining strength of USA soldiers, as you will be constantly outnumbered. Each one can be used exactly once per mission, so choose wisely.

Reputation is represented on the class lists by a series of plus signs before certain items. One plus is Veteran, Two is Elite, and Three is Heroic. Reputation is how highly the USA views your unit. Naturally, the more they like you, the more of the really good toys they let you play with. Reputation is handled on a squad-level basis, and is heavily affected by mission performance. It is possible to lose reputation, in which case you will lose access to higher level abilities & equipment.

As a general guideline-

Things which improve reputation:
-Accomplishing missions.
-Inflicting damage to the enemies of America.
-Protecting the USA's assets.
-Capturing hostiles & intelligence.

Things which reduce reputation:
-Failing missions.
-Losing strike planes.
-Friendly fire.
-Summarily executing prisoners & burning documents.

+++-Tomahawk Strike. When used, nine guided missiles with 450 kg warheads rain on the target area. Targets for individual missiles can be designated. Missiles will prioritize enemy ground vehicles in the target area unless otherwise ordered.

+-Anti-air missiles. Missiles which can track air targets. Typically only effective against helicopters.
++-Waypoint missile guidance. AT & AA missile flight paths can be specified. Route missiles around behind buildings, up into vehicles from the sewers, or fly through windows! Use your imagination.
+++-Thermobaric Missiles(Unguided). More properly called a rocket, this 85mm unguided projectile creates a massive explosion at the target area. Primarily effective against entrenched infantry.

-Body Armor. Basic "bulletproof" armor. Primarily effective against pistol bullets at distance.
+-Sandbags. A heavy bag full of sand. Very resistant to bullets. Intended to be used to fortify positions, Uncle Sam has no doubt enterprising soldiers will use them for more creative purposes.
++-NVG. Allows seeing in darkness.
+++-Upgraded Body Armor. Implact-absorbant body armor w/ chemical antidotes & fire retardant materials.

++-Satellite Scan. A satellite scans an area for electronic activity. Effective at isolating high-tech equipment such as SAM installations or the Batcave with no risk of USA lives.
+++-Y/F-23a Black Widow II ASF. Stealth air superiority fighter armed with four short-range air to air missiles patrols a targeted area for anything that flies. Hangs around for two rounds.


USAF Pathfinder:
USA's elite airborne snipers.

-Bolt-action Sniper Rifle. Slow-firing but incredibly precise 7.62mm long-range rifle.
+-Semi-auto Sniper Rifle. Fires as rapidly as you can pull the trigger.
++-Silencer. If fired from a sufficient distance, it is improbable that enemies will detect firing of the rifle.
+++-Anti-material rifle(not silenced, Bolt-action). Extremely powerful 12.7mm rifle. Very effective at piercing armor.

Act 2071, passed on December 3 2014, officially creates the JSS on a provisional basis. Bill submitted by Senator Anne Reed.

On March 6 2015, the JSS destroys an ammunition depot at the behest of General Warhawk. Mission was accomplished within the standards of the US military(+8 rep). One casualty(-2 rep).

In the evening of March 6 2015, the JSS engages suface-to-air missile installations under command of the USS Abraham Lincoln. Mission was accomplished within the standards of the US military(+8 rep). Enemy commander captured(+4 rep). One MIA(-2 rep).

During the early morning of March 7 2015, the JSS attempts to capture Ackmad Ibn Izaar. Mission was failed, but Ackmad's lieutenant Omar was captured. Mission was executed within the standards of the US military(+6 rep). Omar captured(+8 rep). Black Hawk lost(-6 rep).

During the morning of March 8 2015, the JSS assisted marines on board the USS Abraham Lincoln in repelling boarders. During the fight, the JSS isolated the carrier's CIC from the rest of the vessel. Mission was executed outside the standards of the US military.(+4 rep). Damage to USS Abraham Lincoln caused by JSS(-4 rep).

Bio: Jackson was a petty thief as a child, who landed several stints in juvie. After multiple tickets and other police reprisals, Jackson was finally brought to court and offered a choice - either 10 to 20 in jail, or a ten year enlistment with the Army. Jackson chose the latter, and it wasn't long before his shooting skills - developed as a hunter in his misspent youth - came to the fore and he was enlisted into the elite Pathfinders. Jackson loves the military with all his heart, now - having finally found his place in the wider world. It's unlikely that he would adjust well to civilian life, but as long as he keeps getting kills and doesn't cause too much trouble, it's also unlikely that he'll have to.

(page 2)Well, seeing as I'm the FNG, I might as well start recording all the stuff I do so I can get promoted ASAP. Being a private sucks, let me tell you that. Ever since I was born, I've always felt like one. Even though I am smarter than my older brother, he was more athletic, and my family's sports-crazy. No matter what I do I never get any sort of thanks or recognition. I could probably find a cure for cancer and my parents wouldn't care. So, I decided after putting up with this **** for so long, I might as well get in the army after I got my diploma.
Basic training sucked. I originally signed up to become a helicopter pilot. Well, some ********* up in high command saw me one day, and saw that I would be better in the ground-pounders so-called "Pathfinder" regiment. Then commenced even more, even more brutal training. Well, now I've finally got out of training, and hopefully I'll not be treated like a private AGAIN. Maybe I might be of some help for once, other than calculating my brother's OBP. Maybe I might find some magic headshot-to-center-mass ratio or something. I don't know. All I know is I have my trusty M40A3 at my side (I've always loved older weaponry), and it can take you out at a damn long distance.

Equipment: I actually like it if you do put your equipment in your post, just in case I don't update the OP enough. Just so you know, there's been two rule changes: You normally cannot pick up equipment in mid-mission, and a set of universal equipment has been added.

I also don't care what you call your equipment. For the most part, it has very general names precisely so you can do that.

Also: Having a reputation counter in your post is not necessary. Rep is a squad-level thing.

Bio: Little is known from him, he woke up in a hospital with amnesia and joined the army, lacking abilities. He seems to be keen at storming rooms and killing people in a slightly suicidal way.

Bio: Fiona Blackspire was born in Virginia, and grew up living a normal life with her parents. However, when the time came to leave home and hunt down a university education, her choice was much less normal. She decided to study Chinese and economics, in China. And so she did. And after this was accomplished, she spent a year working for a firm in China, but ultimately decided that the pay didn’t make up for the lack of satisfaction. She decided to return to her Native USA and seek a more exciting vocation, but found herself unable to stick with anything. Ultimately she decided what her life was missing was danger, the thrill and adrenaline of fear and combat. And so she went the obvious path; into the military. At first things were a bit rocky, but she soon established herself as competent, and eventually beyond that, to excellent. It was then that she was selected for a ground-breaking new opportunity: assignment to the JSS.

Bio: Stephen always had a fondness for rockets. Many a summer was spend sending bottle rockets, fireworks, and several army men spiraling through the air. However, his father, a strict military man, sought to stamp out this habit (and instill some discipline into his son) by enrolling him into military school, and later, the army. This would have worked well, had the Army found out that his talents for rocketry extended beyond simple pyrotechnics. Now, his childhood hobby has become a full time job.

+-Recon Sweep. F-15E Strike Eagle with sensor pods make a thermal imaging pass over the target area. F-15E can be ordered to engage helicopters with their cannon, but this will void the sensor sweep.
