JR-O1: Noble, New Players

well, if we defend the city with at least 2 units, i think we'll be okay, esp if we station a unit inside the barb's radius.

so, why not stick a city right above the gold? we can grab that, the wheat and the iron once the border pops (we can chop the obelisk) ~ it may not be much of a city, but it'll get us iron. and that'll let us get to some smashy-smashy :hammer:

I see it and I'll try to play this evening

@Pholk: If we take that route we either miss out on multiple fish or we build erroneous cities.
The site originally placed two north of the barb city was the one I was talking about settling. Is the experience we get from the barb city worth the hassle of containing it rather than destroying it ASAP?

well, in my mind, we could settle above the gold for the iron, take the barb city for those other resources there (which, admittedly, i don't know what they are ~ is that one of the fish you mean?), settle Beavertown with the cows as food, and then settle up north for just a fishing village.

edit: okay, i re-examined my original dotmap since i'm at work and can't see the save. You're right. We SHOULD eliminate that Barb city ASAP and found right above the Corn. I *think* that should net us the Iron, too. Let's whip out some Chariots, then!

did you know that in Vanilla if you whip a build immediately, paying the 1 pop penalty for whipping on the first turn, you still get the extra shields? So, if we whip a chariot on its first turn, we should be able to produce them in consecutive turns ~ as long as we have 2 pop to whip with, that is.

Yes, it grabs the Iron.

Hi guys

Are you going to be finishing this game? I was really enjoying it! :)

I'm a Noble player as well and picked up some great tips! For instance - I knew you could chop wood to get settlers quickly but didnt realise you could whip for them as well! Also, I really like that tip about chopping a forest and putting a worker in the queue just as you're about to get the shields :)

Thanks guys :D

I didn't play here, but don't think this game will continue since Japanrocks kinda disappeared.

Just an idea: why don't you start a new succession game? This time on Prince since it sounds like you learned a lot since then?

oooooh no, not Prince! I've literally only just read this thread and havent had a chance yet to try out the new stuff I've learned! I need to be able to beat Noble comfortably a few more times first!! :)

(well, a lot more times actually!)

well, playing an SG on prince isn't as difficult as it sounds. You'll probably have players who can beat that level sign up, as well as the fact that, most times w/SGs, you can win a level higher than what you're normally able.

Hey I am up for joining a game on Noble or Prince level - I would like to learn from the pros and get better. I don't have Warlords but it can be any kind of game otherwise, I don't care
