Anyone know what the deal is with these. I'm talking about when you have a unit fortified in a jungle, and the unit dies from disease. How often does this happen? I've been playing since this game came out and I recently had it happen for the first time.

As you noticed, it doesn't occur very often. And there's nothing you can do about it, it just happens. There's no way to set the probability in the editor, or even know what it is, it's been hardcoded.

That would be cool if you could change it to like a 1-5% probability. It would make long campaigns a lot more difficult.

I've only seen that happen once. "jungle deaths" as you call them seem to be extremely rare and I would say probably aren't worth worrying over. Maybe it hasn't happened to me because I avoid jungles in all ways...

Something to add to Conquest: make the likelihood much greater if the jungle square doesn't have a road connected to a city passing through it or something.

It also happens when you build cities near jungle or (what's it called) the areas near a river with the green :crazyeye: . Never mind, don't listen to me.

Good idea. How about having the chances drop after discovering medicine. I had a tank die in the jungle before. Really weird:crazyeye:

Fr8monkey: Your tank platoon got stuck in a bog, making them combat-ineffective.

Does this rule only apply to fortified units, or does pressing hold position or sentry also put the unit at risk?

Good question.

I just want to mod it.
It would be cool if deserts would do that too for ancient and renaissance units. Makes campaing more interesting.

Even better is when we could set the change of losing x hitpoints.

eg: - jungle has a change of 10% that a unit will lose 10 HP (so unit will always die).
- desert gives a change of 25% that a unit will lose 1 HP.

It applies to any unit that finds itself on a Jungle square, including a moving unit I believe. At any rate whether it's fortified or sentried doesn't make any difference.

I had a few units fortified in a fort in a jungle in ancient times. By the industrial age they all died and that is more than 4,000 years!

So yea, they are very rear. ;)
