My Dear Aztec Countrymen and Noblest Peasants: Lend me your ears!

Many uncivilized outside meddlers have befouled the name of our beloved leader Montezuma ("Uncle Monty") as a crazy lunatic, yet they fail to see him as the visionary, the military genius that he truly is. They look at us with smirks on their faces and belittled us as filthy barbarians of the Amazon, if only they had come to us as respectful friends of equal, we would have taught them the secrets to our superior astronomy, llama husbandry (animal husbandry), and banana plantation (calendar). To add further insults, they ridiculed our mighty jaguar warriors as inferior to their precious swordsmen, and had the audacity to demand tribute. Ha, they shall see the folly of their ways when they meet their untimely deaths at the edges of our obsidian swords in jungle ambushes, then we shall sacrifice their wives and children to our serpent God to atone for their sins. Brothers of the jungle, it is time for us to take up the sword and teach them a lesson to never insult our Aztec honour, and then for them to regret to ever have been born.

Ok, so here is the format I am planning to have in this SG game:

Monarch Level, Random Continent, Standard size map, default number of opponents, Ancient Era Start, Epic Setting, All Victory Conditions Enabled (but we must win by domination or conquest), Aggressive AI, Raging Barbarians

Numbers of spots on the roster: 7 (why? because it is a lucky number)

I am thinking 20 turns each for first two plays, then 10 turns each afterward. Each person will have two days (48 hours if you want to be more exact) to finish and submit their turns. If they cannot finish their turns on time, they must request a skip. If there is no update after two days, then they will lose their turn, and the person next on the roster will fill in for them.

Let me know if you want to join, then I will add your name to the roster.

Farewell and may the Serpent God Quetzalcoatl (http://www.crystalinks.com/aztecgods.html) bless you with many new healthy llamas and rich corn harvest this year.

Could I join? I'm more of a noble player, but improving quickly. I'm new to forums, so help me out w/ basics on succession game. I know the basics on specialization (commere city, gpfarm, production place, fishing village, etc.) and chopping, so I'd do my best.

I'm glad about the 48 hour time limit though, Im getting a horsehockeyload of homework this year.

Btw, I love warmongering

Ok, you are in, waiting for more brave warriors to join our mutual military struggle.

One question, is putting pics up required, and if so, how do you do so? I can give descriptive details of turns, but dunno how to put up pics.

Two or three images for each person's update would be helpful to keep up with the flow of our epic saga. You can capture images during the game by pressing the "print screen" key, and the images can be found in the screenshot folder. You can host image on sites such as Image Shack (http://www.imageshack.us/), then just use the insert image and paste in the image address. Remember, story telling is part of the fun in SG games, so feel free to use your imagination in your narratives. You can read Sulla's Succession game (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=133492) if you want to get some startup ideas.

i'd love to jump into this. it will be an interesting challenge for my skill set; i'm a builder who plays on prince or occasionally monarch who ignores military development entirely and winds up fighting everyone during the course of a normal game.

so, needless to say, this sort of game will test my abilities to adapt.

Wording change: 20 turns each for the first two players in the first round, 10 turns each for the other five players. After the initial round, it will be 10 turns per person.

Niffweed17: You are in. After all, the mighty Aztec empire need both skilled generals and talented builders. I will try to put you in before two good players, that way they can remedy your mistakes in time (if any).

Note: Man, you caused the demise of the English by declaring war on stronger powers in the anarchy game. Quite evil. Well, hope you won't make suicidal move like that in this game, afterall, it is a SG game, not an anarchy game. :)

Ok, so this is the roster so far:

yes, but after all, we will require somebody with experience slaughtering the english should we chance to play them.

:smug:

Hmm, could you add me to roster please? This could be interesting, I haven't really played as the Aztecs so far for some reason.

Let's just hope we don't start completely isolated on an Island:rolleyes:

Edit: If you haven't already you might want to post in the Succession game registration thread

I'd like to play. Never played a SG before but I've been reading up on this forum... looks like fun.

Just one more player and we will be ready get rolling on this bloodlust conquest, er, I mean, liberation and enlightment of the oppressed people worldwide. If we do have the fate of starting alone on an island, we shall preservere by teching and infrastructure building, then start operation "World Liberation & Forever Freedom" after we get galleons.

Could we get a starting location to get our collective creative juices rolling, Mutax? I am very curious to see how our opening will be!

Ok, so I fired up Civilization IV, with these settings:

Our starting position is here:

My plan is to use the scout to pop the hut, and then possibly move the settler NW to get access to both gold and corn. Now I have two possible course:

(1) The capital will build a warrior and research polytheism (for hinduism), then archery. Meanwhile, I will produce a worker and another warrior.

(2) The capital will build a warrior and research archery. Meanwhile, I will produce a worker and an archer. Later on we can chop rush the oracle for code of law, find confucianism and be able to build courthouse (important for warmongols to run finance in the black).

Anyway, let's discuss on what is the best course of action. Then tomorrow I will start on my first 20 turns. BTW, would you guys preferes 10 turns per person afterward, or just keep it 20 turns per person for the course of this game?

I'd definately move NW to get the Gold in the city radius, it'll be a huge boost for early research, or allowing faster expansion, although it looks as though there's more desert up there too.

As for tech research I'd go for Polytheism (religion will be a great help early on for happiness), then Archery (Probably almost essential with Raging barbs and not starting with Mining for quick axemen). After that I'd say Agriculture for the corn, and Mining. Having never played as the Aztecs before I'm not sure, but getting Iron Working early will probably be necessary to get the most out of the Jags before the AI has a lot of Axemen.

As for units, I doubt that the worker would have much to do that early on, unless the scout reveals Ivory close by. Maybe going Warrior, Warrior, Worker, Archer would work?

10 turns on Epic isn't a long time, but with 7 players 20 could be too long. Maybe 15 turns instead? I've never played a succession game before, so I don't really know what works best.

I'd be willing to offer my services to the Serpent God Quetzalcoatl if there is still roster room available.

I suggest settling one tile due West. Looks like a possibility of picking up more desert if we head north; here the only possibility I think is picking up desert west.

Great, now we have a complete of rosters of braves. The roster list:

Mutax2003
ticktockclok
niffweed17
colony
torello
khift

Time to forge our empire of blood and obsidian (macquahuitl - favorite weapon of Jaguar Warriors)!

Could we start now? I don't want to miss my turn set, and I'm gonna be gone from morning till 8:00 P.M. CST tomorrow, earliest.

Sounds good, I will get this started tonight.

Ok, here is the log and save so you can get a head start, I will fill in with an account of my adventure in a bit.

4000 BC: Tenochtilan found one square west, pop a scout from the hut
3520 BC: Buddhism founded in distant land (FIDL)
3440 BC: Popped another scout from a hut; narrowly missed hinduism by one turn
3400 BC: Polytheism discovered, set to research archery for defense

Along the way, we met Greeks to the south. Their capital is set on ice tundra, but has two seafood resources. Romans are to the north of us after we transverse some jungle.
