[NFP] Kublai Khan Discussion Thread

Yeah nah, bro. You are wrong. Look up Maori theatre. I mean, seriously, I have been to some...
100%. I grew up next to one
You can present a play on a Marae if you want, nothing to stop you. Just like there are no rules forcing people to watch it.
I thik the concept of what a play is historically in a Marae does not quite match a greek play.

Guess the ultimate problem is Theater Square is basically a Greek-Roman-specific district.

Amphitheater’s are but not Marae’s
A theater square is just a concept that gives culture, I think the Maori have that in abundance

Not to be a harsh critic, but I've been really disappointed in the DoM intros for all the leaders in the NFP...

Not only is Kublai's extremely short, but it has this pretty rough miswording: "marshal" instead of "martial"

Yeah, that's a gripe of mine as well. Come on, Sean Bean, you can speak more words than this!!

I don't have any insight into their production process but I have to assume the budget for NFP is lower than the rest of the content and that they probably had to throw together the spoken lines in short order to get them to Sean Bean to record on time, so they gave him fewer lines to read. If so, that's understandable given the circumstances and the pandemic.

Aside from that, the writing quality for Civ 6 has always been all over the place, but NFP has introduced many more straight-up errors than earlier content. It's disappointing and distracting.

Sorry, but his fingers are really shiny and weird, right? It isn't just me? I mean, did this guy have a manicurist and some serious lotions available?

Creepy.

I'm a bit more confused on how his robes (for both appearances) are textured in such a way that they can go from being too dark for their environment, too light for their environment, being clipped through by Kublai's arms, to actually looking normal all depending on what angle you're looking at.

I guess when Kublai and Genghis are both in the game this town isn't big enough for the two of us. :mischief:

Firaxis's new strategy: spell all difficult words phonetically so Seen Baun doesn't butcher them.

Also, having fewer words in general.

I would think that he would know that word considering the amount of films and shows he's been in depicting scenes of fighting, combat and warfare. :p

Also, reports on Reddit indicate that Kublai actually does have a bug if used with Owls of Minerva before unlocking a third Economic policy: soft locks the game requiring you to shift + enter and end turn. Same as before.

sigh

Firaxis thought so too, but this was the second draft...

(Just kidding, I have no idea how many drafts in this was)
